I have been trying to find a freebie everywhere, and I just can't! Does anybody know where to download one? I'm trying to do Uhura from Star Trek.

There's a free "ethnic pack" of P4 characters at Content Paradise. Many characters for Posette are included.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

ah man..there's a whole site devoted mainly to Star Trek hairstyles..do a search in Freebies here, under hair. In fact, the home page for it has Uhura holding up an injured crewman..;) but I'm at work, and don't have access to my database..

The changing diffuse_color is not a very good solution because it changes everything. Black skin and Caucasian skin have identical lip, nail bed, sole and palm colors for example... it is very easy to end up with the "Black Barbie"effect where they changed only the color of the plastic. There is a discussion thread of the need for realistic ethnic textures elsewhere in this forum

Oof - I knew I hid her hands for a reason :) I forgot that this was P4 woman. On Vickie you have nails, lips, etc as separate zones which you can control - but not the palm and sole. I didn't think of that.

I had a freebie up some time back for Posette. It was a black texture/character set called, Mahania, but my bandwith took a beating and I had to remove her. If you're interested let me know and I'll give you a link. :)
Let me introduce you to my multiple personalities. :)

You know depending on the picture you are making that's a pretty cool trick with the diffuse!

RDNA have a free set of MAT files to adjust the base diffuse colour, combining with a normal texturemap, which can give good results. I think it's for V3. There's no easy way around such things as the problem with palms, but Posette does have lips as a distinct material. If you want to try this, you need to use something a little more subtle than a plain grey.
