I made a stupid mistake. I bought a gem pack linked above for a book cover I'm doing and didn't think to look at what kind of models they were. I assumed they were 3DS models, but they're for Vue D'Esprit, which I don't have. Can anyone tell me where I can get a package like this, but for regular 3DS or OBJ models? It's the gem stones in the various cuts that I'm looking for, really. I don't need the rings or settings. I don't want to use any of the Bryce booleaned objects in the preset menu either -- I want actual polygon models I can import.

Hi aprilgem. Here's a terrific site for 3D gemstone models with really good suggestions for rendering the models to look like actual gems. P.S.-Last time I checked many of the models were in .dxf format, but there are a lot of freeware 3D file convertors to change them to the file formats you need. HTH

Great!! This is perfect, and DXF is fine by me. :) Thanks, Danamo!

Check the collections page at: http://www.3dlapidary.com/HTML/Collections.htm Each collection holds most of the main group of cuts. We have Bryce 4 versions (.br4), as well as .dxf, .raw (PovRay), .3ds (3D Studio Max), and .3dm (Rhino). Also there is a sample Bryce 5 scene with a single gem, such as I use for my display thumbnail pics, and a link to the Bryce gemstone materials page hosted by the Riggs sisters (Dar and Jess) at Fignations.com. Thanks, Rosemaryr! But the piece I was working on was all rendered, postworked, and approved by early yesterday morning. :)

Damn. Me, too! I love the way the light hits your gems there.

Oops. Except you have the notice: For Non-Commercial Use Only. Since it's for a book cover I get paid for, I couldn't have used it anyway. :(
