Is there any kind of time limit when composing a message? This has now happened to me a few times: I go to a forum and click "Post new message". I type in a subject and start typing in the Body. I get interrupted and do something else for 10-15 minutes. I come back and finish the message. I click the "Create Message" button. Renderosity sits for a minute and then takes me back to the main Forums Page. I hit my browser's "Back" button and go back to the "Create a New Message" page and my message is gone. I hit my browser's "Back" button again and go back to the Forum page. I hit Refresh and my message has NOT been posted... and all of the information that I had typed in is now gone. Yet, if I type a message (and take only a few minutes) and then hit "Create Message", the message is posted just fine. I now know to always copy my message (to the clipboard). If Renderosity loses my message, I can just paste it and re-post the message. --John

I want to say the time limit is 30 minutes. Don't quote me on that but I am almost sure that is it. I will find out for sure tomorrow and let you know John. Thanks Stacey Community Manager

There's the same issue when you're composing an IM...if you take too long to write your message, when you hit "send" it just gets lost and hitting the "Back" button is futile...it's just gone.

I always try to copy my messages before I hit "Send" just in case...but sometimes...

I do believe the time limit is 15 minutes. {could be wrong tho} Why this was even implemented is beyond me. This is the only website that I have seen that does this... Can anyone answer why this has to be?

You win the prize jump..It is 15 minutes. I asked the programmer and I was wrong saying 30 minutes. Not sure of the reason why though so I'll have to go back to ask this question. Will let you know what he says. Stacey

One solution to this is to use Opera (which is now free, see link). If I take too long over a post I just click the back button and I get the reply box back with everything I've typed, clicking post reply then sucessfully posts the reply.

It is counter-productive. A site which wants creative, thoughtful posts ought not to penalize people for thinking while typing. Those of us who are dyslexic have a hard enough time getting the words right without having to type them again! With a migraine, it is even harder. Fast responses such as a compliment in Product Showcase Forum are no trouble, but sometimes somebody needs help making or finding something... if I have to look up a prop in my Poser folders or check another website for availability, it is going to take longer than 15 minutes even for a concise answer. If I lose a nice long thoughtful post, the odds are against my typing it again... and suspect that others feel the same way. Is there a valid reason for such a short time-out? Carolly

I agree Carolly. Brain fog requires me to go very slow and re-read what I posted sometimes. Even though I still get the words wrong even with checking, I would appreciate not timing out on my posting just because I am sometimes very slow in thought and confuse my words. Like Carolly, I usually end up not posting at all when that happens. Could someone explain to me, why there had to be a time out at all?

Okay Jump, here is what I found out. It was originally set to time out after 30 minutes but because of the issue with the session ids, one thing they did to help this problem out was to change the time out to 15 minutes. So its a type of security. Hope this helps a little:) Stac
