Attached Link: The Girl Next Dooor 2: Athletic
The first in my new series: 'The Girl Next Door Separates' is available now at my store. Upcoming additions will feature more interchangeable bodies, face morphs, textures, expressions, poses, etc. My upcoming clothing will all be tailored to these bodies. These are not your standard Vicky morphs - V3 was worked over from the ground up with custom morphs. Since the body morph was based on an actual human being as opposed to just an artistic representation it took me far longer than any of my previous morphs to create. I kept morphing, tweaking and re-tweaking just the body alone for over 2 weeks.
Her body morph corrects many of the anatomical shortcomings of Vicky's default body, and is unachievable (is that a word?) with dial twists. For example, thighs do not simply run parallel to each other and taper together at the top: due to the anatomy of the hips, the tops of the femurs are actually set wider apart and thighs slope together towards the knee. I could go on and on but I'll let you look and decide for yourself.
Her torso 'appears' longer at first glance, but only because her breasts are higher than Vicky's default ones, as they would be on someone younger and more toned.
Cheers,
-gabriel

Extraordinary! Have you tested how well Wardrobe Wizard works fitting to "her", yet?
Blackhearted posted Mon, 19 September 2005 at 9:55 PM
thanks.. i don't own wardrobe wizard. i will be fitting several of my older clothing packs to her though, and new things are in the works. i just moved 600km south, thats why ive been so quiet lately :) but now its back to business as usual. like the original GND pack there will be 4 different body 'types' in GND2, and all of my future clothing is going to be tailored to those bodies. im reasonably sure the tailor/wardrobe wizard type programs will work with the bodies - however like the adventuress clothing pack i prefer clothing modelled right over the actual morphs (or hand morphed to them) so that it fits skin-tight like real clothing. cheers, -gabriel

Gabriel: she's a beauty. Tailor so far has done a great job of fitting stuff to her. It can be a drag to do when you have a huge collection of clothing, but it is well worth the effort. I spent a few days adding morphs to my Steph clothes when I got Irina too, and I don't regret it one bit.

I DON'T care for the "hard party girl" look.

morning, just dragged myself out of bed :) hmm. ill just update the product page with a little thumbnail linked to a big image showing makeups or something. the pack, in my mind, was totally morph-focused with a texture that matched the quality of the morph. the makeups were pretty much added as a 'bonus' since everyone expects them from me these days, hehe, so they completely slipped my mind. theres so little advertising space and i refuse to go the route of other merchants and upload 5 feet of embedded promotional images the customer has to scroll through to get to the bottom. i was just on very slow dialup for a year, so now i am far more sensitive to the dialup user than ever before. i pay a lot more attention to compression too. cheers, -gabriel
Giana posted Thu, 22 September 2005 at 11:40 AM
yea, i'm in the same frame of mind... dialup is someone's twisted sense of torture [snort] i'll check back on your product page for the thumb after a spell... kind of figured those shots posted were purposefully geared towards the bodyshape, and even said as much to someone when we were discussing what the textures might look like and why there wasn't an accompanying image [gotta keep in mind that for me at least, it's far more about textures than morphs when considering purchasing] thanks for responding to the request... truly...
Blackhearted posted Thu, 22 September 2005 at 1:10 PM
ugh, sorry but im a bit behind. might be later this afternoon before i get these rendered. i have to deal with another unrelated MP issue. seems like every time i release a successful product i become a target for other merchants who have nothing better to do than bitch about their peers. they should spend more time working on their own products rather than looking for things in other merchants' stores to complain about. the merchant:merchant attitude here really sucks ever since the merchant population boomed - its starting to really get on my nerves.
Arien posted Thu, 22 September 2005 at 2:04 PM
Gah, sorry to hear Gabe. That sucks, each minute wasted dealing with this sort of thing is a minute you could be working on getting better products out. And let's not get started on pirated products. I've been told a few times that I should start making clothing textures for the marketplace, and every time I look at the amount of merchants and the hassle involved, and wonder if it would be really worth it.
Giana posted Thu, 22 September 2005 at 3:33 PM
thanks for the update, but erm, Gabe? do what you have to do first... not that you should give a rat's arse what i think, but as you said - everytime you come out w. something successful, blahblah - well, you know, there will always be people and there will always be criticism, and though i'm not for playing doormat, sometimes just ignoring a thing says far more & has more impact rather than stirring an already fractious group... i mean i'm sure you're already aware that money & egos can generate lethal qualities in a person[s], and gosh, i think the best response is to start working on something new and take more of the marketshare... besides, i'm not in any hurry to whip out my credit card and go further into debt [not that i'm not open to that ... twisted little grin], so take your time... sometime in the next couple of days i'll come looking... :)) cheers

Does this require that you buy the morph packs for V3 or does it work outside of them, given that you can't make the character with the dials (kind of like Keilo and Sassy Sue work outside the morph packs).

ethesis - dark nipples can be a result of genetics, sun exposure, or just plain skin type. they can also be because of lighting in poser (which is actually more of the case here - they are pretty pink on the texture). they by no means are a positive indicator of a woman's age or how many children shes had. not sure where you heard that, but i know many women with darker nipples - including the one living with me - that have never had any kids :) not to mention that with just a few minutes of sun exposure, even the lightest nipples will darken up considerably. cheers, -gabriel

yes, sorry - missed that. all of my morphs are custom morphs. you dont need any of the V3 or S3 morph packs to make them work. however, once injected, you can inject the daz morph packs over top of my characters in order to further customize them if you so wish.
it would also be impossible to create something like this with the daz morphs, or poser magnets.
***edit and sorry guys, but still no head renders. i had them all set up and it was rendering, but windsor just got hit with a huge power outage that lasted about 5-6 hours for us. we just had power restored. they have been running at near 100% power capacity for years so there are constant brownouts and power outages. if you are going to live in windsor, the first thing to buy is a UPS for your computer. my monitors dont even work properly - theyre not getting a full 115-120 volts, probably only around 110: theres a constant flickering/wavy thing going on that gives me vicious migraines. god i hate this city :( Message edited on: 09/22/2005 22:20

hehe i will be creating custom tailored clothing for her, but well-made clothes take time (hell, ask any RL tailor). i have a ton of things going on in the next two weeks but ill have at least one clothing item out for her before october 14th, hopefully two. with everything i release i set the absolute minimum bar at my previous product. the problem with releasing something like the adventuress clothing pack, which took me a long time to create, is that i set a standard and now i have to top it, or at least match it. so im in for a lot of work :) my harddrive is littered with clothing items in various stages of completion, but i refuse to release something thats half-assed. cheers, -gabriel

She looks excellent. "First in a new series" you say, and you mention 'separates'. I'd like to know - what will the next Separates pack contain? And will there be a combo pack of several separates? And perhaps including clothes? Could be that these things are wayyyy in the future of course. However, the way you describe it indicates a very well planned strategy of development and release. And I need to be strategic in my purchasing policy so I don't find I missed on something ;o) :] Fish
Blackhearted posted Fri, 23 September 2005 at 9:06 AM
thank you, but i cant say what the next one will contain :) all ill say is that by the time im done there will be something there for everyone. ill create one big megapack at the end, but that will be on CD and a long time ahead (after 3-4 more morphs are created, several heads, textures, clothes, etc) so if youre going to hold out for that it will be a long wait :) ironically the first GND pack was my lesson in just how cutthroat the marketplace was. this was back when V2 was released, and it was the first product at rosity that had several premorphed characters bundled into one pack. there was a toned, waif, voluptuous and pregnant character in it. within a week several merchants had already released their knockoffs - some of them had promo text that matched mine almost word for word, their promos were very similar, and their packs had a waif, toned, voluptous, etc character in it. since then ive had another few problems. a couple of times ive mentioned to people - sometimes friends - what im working on. im a bit of a perfectionist so i wont release something until i am satisfied with it, some merchants work a lot faster. anyways, these same people i mentioned it to released virtually the same product i told them i was working on before i did. ive shelved a couple of things i was working on because of this. i dont work 'fast'. so im sure there are a lot of merchants that can create what i create in less time. not saying what im working on protects me in some small way. the sad thing is that while there are some highly public cases where a merchant rips off another merchant's work by way of copyright iinfringement, there are thousands of examples of blatant idea leeching that go unpunished and often unnoticed. one merchant will release something successful, within a couple of weeks a dozen merchants have their knockoffs created. even Daz isnt immune - when Kiera and i released Tuesday and Ophelia ages ago for stephanie (1.0), it was the first thing out there that didnt just have color balanced/color adjusted makeups. it was the first product we saw that had totally handpainted makeups that actually took longer than 5 minutes spent in photoshop making a color adjustment layer. Kiera spent days just painting the makeups and it was a really different look. it hit the whats hot section of the marketplace, in just over a week there was a Daz in-house texture pack released for stephanie 1.0, with virtual copies of each of the most popular makeups we created. the Daz promo text was also virtually identical to ours as well in terms of makeup descriptions. it was too much to be coincidence. i sent Dan Farr a polite email pointing this out, and he didnt even bother to send a response. and people wonder why i am not a Daz fan - my loathing of their marketing practices and business tactics goes back several years, to when i was just a fledgling merchant. /rant jesus.. how do i go off on these tangents?
philebus posted Fri, 23 September 2005 at 11:59 AM
Keep at it at your own pace. Yes, I want it all NOW - but lets face it, we'd all prefer the quality, so we'll wait. I had a proper try out of this pack last night and can't tell you how impressed I am, this project is the most exciting product line to hit V3. Body morphs are a real problem with the V3 morph packs (I fair better with the face morphs but prefer SP for even that), so custom morphs of this quality are something I've been waiting a long time for. Sometimes the 'all things to all users' products are just too much of a compromise in quality; using these products instead may seem to limit versatility that morph packs seem to offer but will in fact offer variety without that nasty compromise. I wish you well in this venture and hope you get the rewards it deserves. The knock off products are all too easy to spot and there are a few good merchants suffering from them. Please, don't be put off by them - people do gravitate to quality when they see it. More gallery entries would be a good idea though, they don't all have to go in product showcase and its not as if you don't do them well, is it? Thinking of which, thanks for another great tutorial - these are great bonuses!

blushes perhaps. ive toyed with the idea of remorphing mike 3. my problem isnt so much the morphing - id love to do a body morph. its just that i really dont want to have to do a male texture. its much more trouble than a female one and the payoff is significantly smaller. perhaps ill just release a morph for M3, without a texture, and some basic clothing that can be adapted to different styles from casual to formal. cheers, -gabriel

Blackhearted posted Sat, 24 September 2005 at 10:05 AM
morning folks, She's beautiful!! Have her Joint Parameters been re-worked? Can she wear V3's shoes? thanks, and nope: i have not touched the JPs. i wanted to tweak them a little but then she would not have been able to wear V3 clothing via wardrobe wizard, the tailor, etc. Oh and I have one more Q: How well does she 'mix' with V3's standard MT's? i have no idea - i dont own the V3 morph packs. i would assume she mixes fine if you use them in moderation. some of the daz morphs - like the obese ones - are not very good, so that would carry over :) the boobs have been extensively remorphed (actually theyve been totally flattened to the body, then morphed in from scratch. so you may not be able to, say, just dial in Breast Size 8 to 1.0, but you certainly could add some size by dialing some of the morphs to .3, .4, etc. morphs are usually very forgiving - so for areas that have gotten very extensive remorphing (breasts, navel, pubes, tops of her thighs, etc) they might need to be used in moderation but for other areas theey should take very well. perhaps someone who owns the V3 morph packs can let us know how they fared by posting here? what do her shoulders/armpits look like from the front with her arms down? it depends. V3 has extensive joint controlled morphs that fix her joints in the bent position. however, the drawback of these is that in a halfway or 3/4 bent position often things will look wierd. for example, when you bend V3's thighs up (as if she were holding them parallel to the ground), the tops of her thighs start to flatten (called 'pancake thigh' by most people around here). this is because the JCM for her thigh bent position is kicking in and flattening the top of her thigh so that when it bends up further, it looks natural. JCMs have a linear relationship to the joint, so as soon as you start moving the joint they will engage. suffice to say its a huge PITA conforming clothing to these JCMs. so, any character made for V3 will exhibit the same joint issues that V3 will (same goes for clothing). this will be this way until curious labs reworks the rigging in poser to something less primitive. V1-V2's joints looked bad when fully bent, but fine when partially bent. V3's joints look fine fully bent, but look a little wierd when bent halfway - but this is the compromise with poser's rigging. you can counter this sometimes by adjusting her JCMs by hand into the negatives, but ofteen its far simpler just to adjust your pose a little or do a spot of postwork. so, the short answer to your question is this: with her arms hanging straight down she looks perfectly natural. 25 degrees out to the sides, however, the tops of her inner arms dip in due to V3's JCMs, but this is unavoidable on all unimesh characters. cheers, -gabriel
