I think that I may have at one point heard but I'm not certain, and I've never seen it mentioned so I'm not sure why I think it, but I think of it everytime I see anything about Babylon5 and it driving me crazy.

Before Babylon5 was cool and had things like a budget, weren't the cg scenes in the first season rendered in Bryce?

No, I'm serious. I think they were but I have no idea why I think that.

According to a pretty good source* on the net-"All special effects for Babylon 5 are computer generated imagery (CGI).
For the first three seasons, the effects were done by Foundation Imaging,
headed by Ron Thornton, utilizing Lightwave 3D and specialized software to
design and render the visual effects. (Lightwave is now running on PCs;
Amigas were used originally.) Macintoshes and PCs are used occasionally
for 2-D effects and painting packages. Starting in season 4, the effects
are done in-house at Netter Digital, using similar equipment to Foundation's".
Maybe Bryce was used as one of the "specialized software' apps.

Found an interview, they've used lightwave since the pilot.

What am I thinking of then? Darnit

I'm sure I've got an old Amiga mag in the loft somewhere, which says something about the first series of Babylon 5 being rendered in Lightwave using a renderfarm of Amiga's and Newtek's Video-Toaster.

Yeah, that's what the article said. Must have been something else then. I swear there was some sci-fi show that was rendered in Bryce, help me out here. It's possible the show only lasted on or two seasons, but it would have been about the time Baylon5 started. No, it wasn't Planetary Traveler that I'm thinking of.
