Hi !

I happend to run into an annoying problem when designing a poster in PS CS2 and maybe someone here might be able to give advice.
Since the exhibition deals with lighting equippment I wanted to use a font that suggested neon- and/or flourecent tubes but couldn't find any font that worked for the purpose.
Finally I did find one that was fair enough but I'm not totally happy with it. Hence I realised I was very short on this kind of "line fonts" (basically only this one that's ok) and most collections seem to miss really good ones.
So, if anyone know of any collection/-s (commercial or free) that has good fonts of this type I'd be most happy to have a pointer.

http://cgm.cs.mcgill.ca/~luc/fonts.html It's a bit of a chore to slog through and some of the links are dead, but it's a great site. There are several hundred links to both free and pay fonts. I've been using it for several years and am very happy with it. Just steel yourself for a little digging to find exactly what you want. Good luck!

Ganthor! Thanks for the link. I'll sure check it out. No problem with digging here since that is a perfectly normal activity when you look for that very special thing that does the trick. Had a look at your gallery too and I especially like the "Why I Can't Sleep At Night" image. Tells a good story there and I don't think I could sleep that well either with an active vulcano that close...

Thanks for the kind comments about my gallery posts. "Why I Can't Sleep.." was just one of those weird things that came together one afternoon. I scouted the site you pointed to and found a link that had a good ammount of Serifs that was TTF's. I'll dig deeper into that one when time permits.

Well, that's the good part with art/design.
When a piece works such that the viewer doesn't require any explanation but can freely associate around it - then it's a good piece.
Significantly, many good pieces do just come together "by themselves".
I can't explain the Lumina-design either since it presented itself when I was fooling around with a stock image and some typography. Tho I'm not entirely so, the client and the exhibition arrangers were happy all over the place.

It's a very nice piece. Sort of a graphic explosion of color and light that really catches the eye. I've been a pen and paper artist for the last 30 years (I used to do color seperations by hand, no less!) and have been with computers for the last 20. I've never understood why a client gets so excited over something you just slam together while the pieces you slave over doesn't even raise an eyebrow. Go figure... Best wishes.

If a slam-together gets the client excited and make him/her/them pay you for it, you'll have lots of time to do what you really feel for and put your heart into it. I was a photographer myself for over 30 years, working hard on building up a stock image library. Now I find it's a lot easier to buy images (for around $1.00 - 5.00) and use them for designs, so instead of carrying bulky and heavy camera equippment around I focus on working from the comfort of my home environment. Can't really say I miss the camera work and I can keep fairly "regular" hours now ... Laters !
