Lately, I've become really tired of the bloat P6 adds to files. I used to do the final save of all my files in P6 before packaging them up for sale (after changing the version to 4.01, of course). I did this to include all shader info, and switch off smooth polys (my models are all mechanical/articulate). So today, I was looking at the huge file sizes from P6. They can be up to 3 times bigger, especially if they have parented lights. It also adds those thrice-damned Goal/Center of Mass actors, plus shader trees for every preview, light and shadowcam. Anyway, I figured I'd just edit the files myself, adding the smooth polys line and any shader trees for materials which need an ambient strength of 1.000. All works fine, obviously. But my question is, since P6 adds all this crap as soon as you open something, is it possible that the models could load slower by not having it in place? I can't see any difference at all, and it would probably be milliseconds anyway, but I just thought I'd ask if anyone else has considered this. mac
