Does anyone know a precise method to measure Poser figures to, for instance, precisely scale the Daz M3 skeleton for D3? Thanks in advance

Do a search for "Geep", he's got a couple of tutorials for making a Poser measuring prop with Poser primitives that measures with Poser's Native Units, and is fairly easy to convert to real-world measurements. Other than that, I'd say load the M3 skeleton, then David, and try to adjust the scaling on the skeleton to match David. Now, if you're intending on conforming the skeleton to David, you'll probably have to fiddle with the joint parameters to get the skeleton to bend the same.

You could try my "Ultimate Callipers, measuring device." in the free stuff. It measures incriments as small as 0.01 mm or 1/64 of an inch.
