Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 12 6:08 pm)
The vertex can only move with existing, unlocked morphs. If you've pinned enough other vertices that none of the morphs can move without making one of the pinned vertices move, then you won't be able to move the vertex you're trying to move.

Thanks, Ajax, that does make sense. And the morph I messed with was unlocked and didn't have any pins set. I only started setting pins later to see if/how they were working. Maybe it's how I started. I picked the body part: head. Hit Spawn Morph target and named it "damage". Locked all the other head morphs and kept "damage" unlocked. It seems so simple and yet... Even tried the same thing with a different model and had the same non-results. I've been working with Poser since P2 and this is the first time I have ever tried to make a morph. I'm sure it's not this hard. "This kind of thing is always due to user error."
You would rarely be able to use that tool with only one unlocked morph. 10 unlocked morphs, all of which would normaly affect that particular vertex you're trying to move sounds more likely. If you're trying to make original morphs of your own, you might be better off trying the magnet tools.

Thanks, I guess it's time I try my first magnet too. The head I'm using is the Drone head for the Dystopian Drone Trooper. I need to do some damage to the side of his face and the head only has two morphs, one for the iris and one to move the eye back and forth. So, many new things to try. Thanks again for the input. don
Oh OK. I know that figure well since I was involved in setting it up for Poser. The pinning vertices thing can only produce morphs that can be made by using a combination of existing morphs basically its a way of coming up with dial settings for the existing morphs that get what you want without you having to twiddle the dial for each one. It cant morph anything that wouldnt be affected by any of the morphs that are already there. A magnet would definitely be the best way to put a dent morph in the Drone Troopers head, but you might get better results with a displacement map. You can make some awesome dents with displacement.

Just tried the P6 morphing tool yesterday. Didn't have bad results, I had no results. Followed the instructions in the manual, they seem pretty straight forward. Pick a morph, pick a point to move around, pin points you don't want to move and drag around the points you do want to move. Lock morphs you don't want to change. I can pick multiple pin points but only one vertice to morph at a time. But then the vertice just stubbornly sits there immune to my dragging. Wierd. Anybody else have this? Or get it to work?
