Most people play, or have played, an instrument in their lifetime, so show me what "your" intrument is or was. It can be childhood photos or current images - it doesn't matter. From kazoos to tubas, show me what you got!
I took 2+ years of the violin as a boy and still have my fiddle, though the bow is coming apart, and one of the strings broke while I was posing for these shots (thanks to my wife Lisa for taking them). I can only play a few tunes still, and it is kinda squeeky when I do. But I have fun...
=o] ps. My thanks to Marlene for giving me this idea.

Oooohhhh.....very cool idea, Kort! Your wife did good on taking those pics and your poses are very natural. Well done! I don't have a pic right now, but I'll go take one today. I took 10 years of piano lessons. The piano is at Grandma's, so I'll take a pic when I go over there today. :) Now I'm curious to see everyone else's images!! :D

LOL LOL LOL -- no you don't! =o] I need a lot of practice to get anywhere near passable again. Looks like a fun keyboard Sheila. I played around with them but was never taught how to use one. I've played the French Horn, Bass fiddle, and bugle in my day...

Actually, she just did. She's going by the handle LisaHuntArt. She doesn't have much time to comment, but finally succumbed to my urgings that RO was a good place to show her watercolor work. Nice soundboard there Nikki, I bet it compliments your voice beautifully. =]

I wasn't sure what to expect from you Tedz, but I must say your photo is finger-pickin good! I forgot to mention that I took 6 months of classical guitar lesson with an overbearing Japanese teacher. I didn't enjoy it - so committed seppuku. I recovered, but never took up the instrument again.

LMAO@Kort!!! Look at that dismantled thingie (dunno the English word for it)!!! O_o Like Andreas, I'm definitely not a musician!! I don't have the ear AT ALL!!! I tried guitar YEARS ago and dropped it after 2 lessons!!! No pics on my part either then! Unless I can enter a pic of Laurent? He's the musician of the family! :) The tunes on my website are his creations! :D

I used to play the guitar but ultimately chose having nails over callouses in high school.Such vanity!
Honestly,I prefer most of all to sing.But I couldn't very well take a pic of my throat,lol!And I don't have a mike like Nikki's,sigh.
Oh,and I put these guys in just for fun since the pic was kinda boring when I first took it.Isn't it nice to see them finally getting along?LOL.
Sigh...More evidence of my geekdom...8^B)

Hahaha, big laugh - thanks Marlenalouche! It took me a little while to figure out it was the Spy vs. Spy guys. I thought it was some weird Tim Burton creation there for a sec. And I think a photo of your throat would have been lovely! ;oP Doug, great looking Roland - where is YOUR plant? ;P I was first exposed to Rolands listening to the music of Duran Duran when I was a wee laddie. What a cutie you were Cyn. Sorry that you never got to really learn it...you can come over and practice on Lisa's anytime. Joe, those are 2 great shots! Keep on rockin! Actally, there is a Nu-metal category these days.... ;^]

Hey Doug those MIDI interface thingies don't cost that much! You can setup a digital multi-track studio that way and also use it as a sequencer! Tracks can be layered and you can even see the notes (in a musical staff) depending on the software used!
I've always wanted to get my hands on one of the Roland Guitar Synths...pretty cool to be able to have access to a wholw library of instruments and play'em on the guitar! You can even have each string assigned to a different sound!
(if interested) Checkout this link for more info! Has some videos of the g-synth in action (ITS WICKED!) just click on Multimedia on the right menu of this page!
BTW! Some great shots here! Cool to know we have so many musical peeps around here! (hmmmm a photo forum BAND in the makin' HEHE!)

A realllllly good Simon, indeed! What a selection of instruments we have! and I'm actually not surprised to find all the musicians behind lenses... someone who thinks creatively usually lets it out through several avenues. Carolly

Indeed. Marlene mentioned to me much the same thing the other day. It makes sense I suppose, though I know visual artists that could not play a note if their life depended on it! :)

cynlee, I didn't even try to do something for the "rocks" Simon... because this house is full of too many special ones... enough for a book, not just a thread, so a single image? Right. Anyway, I like your uncle. ;) One of my aquaintances plays the recorders with her nose. It is somewhat disturbing to watch, but she gets a tune out of them. We can do almost anything if we practice hard enough! Thanks for the links, too. I wonder how we humans discovered that blowing through a tube would yield a sound, but we might have started with horns and shells (found objects) before shaping instruments. There is a stone age bone flute, so the knowledge of how to coax out more than one sound is very, very old. Carolly
cynlee posted Fri, 07 October 2005 at 9:49 PM
haha.. yes.. he's made a few of those (bone flutes) ..hadn't thought about it till you said that! what child wouldn't love a handmade bone flute from her fave uncle! he did make me my very own recorder too but i can only play the very basics, i do treasure it... luv to listen to him play (the only time i tried out the record option on my cam) & then there's that wonderful natural linseed oil smell that has always followed him about :]
