..... OK, I've used P4/PP, P5 and am now on P6. I love the material room for changing textures on clothing etc. I often use RDNA's freebies for this. However, I'd like to make some of my own but haven't the first clue on how to go about it (Materials 4 Dummies would be nice). Is there a relatively straightforward tutorial for this? Thanx for any help. BTW I have Paint Shop Pro 9 with which to create the actual textures.

My aspiration: to make a decent Poser Render I'm an Oldie, a goldie, but not a miracle worker :-)

You'll need something like UVMapper (http://www.uvmapper.com). Assuming you don't already have a template for the object you want to create the material for then you'd load the .obj into UVMapper and save the image created as a template. All that's left is basically colouring in the template and applying the texture to the item you want in Poser 6.
