you cannot use nurbs, they have to be converted to polygons for use with Poser. Rhino 3D you have to convert to polygons. best modeling? you will get LOTS of different opinions about what is best, worst, sucks, is great etc. The answer is....what ever modeling application you find works well for you. Wings (free) Blender (free) Silo Modo Amapi (there is a free verision) Lightwave Cararra Shade Truespace Hexagon etc etc etc etc... Important that the modeling application exports to OBJ format, and that it does not change point order when exporting. If the modeling application mucks with point order then you get exploding morphs etc happening. Try every demo you can get you hands on, look at your budget, then decide.

I use Blender 3d. It's a great modeling program, and it's free. The downside is that I don't know too many Poser users who use Blender, so you may have trouble finding help for using it for Poser-related tasks. (If I get back in the habit of reading forums, then I can offer some help in the Blender forum). The upside of Blender is that it is FREE. I've made nice clothing with it.

Cinema 4d, combine it with Spanki's OBJ plugin and it work fantastic with poser.....you may get about 100 other answers though LOL......Steve

I work with anim8or (free) and it handels obj files like a champ. But first you have to export the different groups from Poser itself. Then fiddle a bit in anim8or to reconstruct the figure, make the clothing, and export back. Uv map it as you like, make the texture, etc. If given the time I'll make a tutorial. Skintight clothes can be made by scanning what you want to make, put it on a second texture, blend it with the skintone in Poser, and get the thickness with a black and white displacement map.

I would say two things count among the Greatly Underated elements of clothing modelling. First and foremost is UVmapping. If you've got a nice mesh but a stinky UVmap, then it is never gonna look its best. Second is drapery folds -- that, and the tricksy "shrink wrap" method, both make a dynamic cloth engine (such as the one within Poser5+) a useful adjunct to a clothing modeller's suite.

Any modeling program that can handle Wavefront .OBJ import and export, and that suits your style of working.

Wings local 506 recommends Wings 3d. I've never progressed beyond boots and helmets, but I've seen some pretty amazin' stuff..Blender is sort of the Swiss Army Knife of tools; it's a modeler/animator/game maker/renderer/format converter, and comes with it's own plastic toothpic..;) The interface is a bit dodgy, but it's somewhat useful..;)
