perhaps my frame rate is too fast or slow? notice the flickering, especially of the windows. what causes that? this is just a test to become familiar with the controls and just doing it...which brought up a few questions as above. the pan shots are too fast. I found a conversion program free, but will only do 30 seconds. Are there others? it did convert my 10meg vid to 2+meg, which is great.

I think that in part that's caused by the heavy compression you are using. What's the framerate? It looks like 15fps to me but I can't be sure.

the frame rate is 30. i didn't antialian...otherwise way too slow for a test. Could be that as well...but it flickered before the compression as a 10meg avi

Now that you mention the antialias I'd bet that is the reason.

Try using the divX codec encoder, it's free and the compression rate to quality is really very good. Though you have to download the divX player to see it, its already part of most standard players, such as windows media player 9. http://www.divx.com/

I encourage you to experiment with camera movement on all 3 axis. Move it up and down and bank it as well. Follow that Spiderman as he swings through your city. You have the control. You have the power. You are the master! Make that camera obey! [The proceeding cheerleader imitation was brought to you by "Coffee" - the absolute proof that there is a benevolent God.]

I'm guessing but it looks like you used Poser 4 rendering engine. Make sure that you add all the features; Anti-alias, use bump maps, use texture maps and render quality Production. Here is a test shot, 300frames 30 fps DivX 6 codec:

You have to join Lulu but it is free. It is on direct access, that means only those from here will see the link. I use to copy stuff in the preview but Lulu now only allows 2k because some people where using the preview for fileshareing copyrighted material, songs mostly.
I also used the same stonemason file and add in a few low polly people walking and low polly cars moving. After the second car I'm thinking about having a low polly child run across the street to meet low polly parents. It only will last a few frames but there is a dead spot there that really needs to be filled.
There is a slow drop with the camera pan that is almost unnoticeable.
With Poser I will render dailies using texture shaded display style, then render everything later using a program called BatchGen.

Dave-So Did you render your animation in Bryce? I have done some animations in Bryce and get the same effects that you see in your animation.

it was done in Bryce. I did some early stuff many years ago , but never really got rolling. I've wanted to get into animation for a long time...the render times prevented me from doing so. Its just too time consuming, but my system, even though its not top of the line, allows me to render in the background and still do other stuff, so its not all that bad. AMD64/3200 This video was just to get started ... to see where things go, what the camera sees, speed of panning the camera...positioning, etc. Hopefully all Bryce renders aren't flickery like that. Turning on AA might be better, but it triples the render time. That one, which is 30seconds, only took around 1-1/2 hours, which isn't too bad for testing. Did any of you see Planetary Traveler or Infinitys Child ? Rendered in Bryce, but using Macs ... no flicker :)

i like that vid, Dale ... I just downloaded Divx, there are a lot of possibilities with stonemason's set :)

Bryce is one of my favorite apps. But you have to put up with some very long rendering times. You need to crank up the quality settings on Bryce because of the low quality of the texture maps that stonemason used. This was done in Bryce

Think about having two rendering settings, One that just gives the basic colors and animation, that way you can see the action with out waiting forever. And one that is full
