THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: It's totally stupid...i'm annoyed

well i'm not really annoyed but its stupid how a person can't find a tutorial on something that people do in bryce/ps. I am looking for one that can help me with doing some motion blur, don't get me wrong i have found where to do it in ps, messed around with the settings there so i know what i must do in ps. Problem is, how do you do the terrain in bryce then take it from there into ps do the motion blur then place it back in bryce so you can finish off the image.. Also if it calls for layers where can i find a tut on that please...

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

What do you mean "do the terrain in Bryce?" Just render the terrain in Bryce, take the rendere into PS, apply motion blur, and then use the blurred pic as a 2D background in Bryce. You'll probably have to experiment with the angle between the 2D plane and the camera, as well as with settings of the material. Or, if you're creating an airplane over a terrain... 1) Render the whole pic 2) create a mask for the airplane 3) Open the render in Photoshop. Open the mask in Photoshop. 4) Select the whole mask (ctrl+A). Paste it onto the render (the usual ctrl+V). You'll get two layers. 5) Click on the render layer, select the whole canvas (ctrl+A) and copy it onto clipboard (ctrl+C). 6) Click on the mask layer, take Magic Wand tool (W) and select just the white area. 7) Create a new layer (down beside the trashcan icon in the Layers pallette), so the selection carries onto a new layer. 8) Paste the render from the clipboard into the selection (Ctrl+Shift+V). You can then apply the mask on the airplane by right clicking on its layer in the pallette and choosing Apply Mask. That will delete everything else except the airplane. 9) You can delete the mask layer or just make it invisible. 10) Now you can apply different blur settings to the whole pic layer and the airplane layer. As well as do various other things. :-) Just click on a particular layer and blur away. Hope this helps. It took me much more time to write this than it would to do it.

Doing motion blur in Bryce - Not really possible, doing it in post is the best bet. Unless it is just like a background plate/image, which you could apply some motion blur to that image, and use it in the background to simulate the look of speed. AS

It may not apply to what you're doing, but this is what I meant. ;o) AS
