I thought you may be interested in this pic. Whilst it is not very interesting in itself it goes well with a quote you put on your image. Those scenes made me a painter and I am grateful." --John Constable This photograph was taken along the path that John Constable used to walk to school everyday between East Bergholt and Dedham and shows some of the willow trees he was referring to in the quote. They have been pollarded for many years possibly centuries, which gives them the strange knarled look.

And another showing Flatford Mill one of the mills owned by John Constable's father. My posting of yesterday - the photograph was taken from the spot John Constable must have stood in when he painted The Haywain. The view looks a little different because rising sea levels have made it necessary to build up the banks on the far side blocking some of the view across the fields. The cottage shown is Willy Lotts cottage also featured in many Constable works.

how incredible you are right there to see the environment which inspired him!!!! looking at the first image, i would have guessed that lightening struck it. it's a DELIGHTFUL tree!!!! Children must love its easy access!!!! i know i would! LOL! thanks for showing these images!!! i so much enjoy them...especially that 3rd one that you posted in your gallery! What a JOY to look at!
