hehe. Yeah. The international beauties pack is $60.00. If you don't have it and want to use the freebie... you have to spend $60.00 USD (about $80.00 CAD) to do so. I love the idea of freebies... but I wish they gave stand alone items away so that anyone could use it. Oh well... best not to look a gift horse in the mouth. I'm sure there are those who have that package and are quite happy with the extra goodie :)

"Another one of these great not so free freebies...." ...so what you're saying is that DAZ should not offer any freebies that are add-ons. How about Bryce freebies? Not everyone has Bryce, or P5/6 only freebies, or D|S only freebies or P4 only freebies - some folks don't even have Poser... Can't help with a little dig at DAZ at any opportunity, can you?

"Can't help with a little dig at DAZ at any opportunity, can you?" Not able to see the greed kicking in? The pricing? I like how DAZ is moving away from Poser users. Their is chat about a V4 in the works, but not for Poser. Like I am worried.
guslaw posted Sat, 15 October 2005 at 7:20 PM
No, I'm don't see the greed kicking in. In my opinion, DAZs prices for most items are in line or lower with what other e-stores charge for similar quality items. While it's true that some items are on the high side, other items are below similar items in other stores. The higher priced stuff is mostly brokered or re-sell stuff. Keep in mind that brokered artists set, or help in setting, their own prices I believe. Daz is expanding their market to include other application, that's not the same thing as moving away from Poser users (Kinda like Sears carrying other brands besides only the Sears brand). As far as the chat about a V4 in the works but not for Poser - that's all it is, idle chat and speculation based on unsubstantiated rumors... ...like I'm NOT worried.

There are lots of freebies out there for stuff you have to buy to use, why is it only Daz that is greedy? Give it a rest. Marque

Well maybe your new, and don't realize that Daz has given us all wonderful freebies over the years...and I mean over the years. It is not so easy to keep creating wonderful models that you know are free, alot of work and very little profit. I know that with freebies there might be some profit cause it brings you to their site, but still on the most part the profit is nill. Trust me I know. They do this mostly cause they want to aid us all. Really that is the reason and I do thank anyone that gives to us like that. We have many merchants that give us quality models for free.
Sharen PS: I am not trying to be offensive, just maybe some did not understand the reasoning behind a freebie.

There are lots of freebies out there for stuff >> you have to buy to use... Good grief yes. Textures for things? Props for purchasable figures? Python scripts for Poser ('course, you gotta buy Poser, heh heh). This has to be the silliest complaint I've seen in the last few weeks. It's the kind of thing people are talking about when they complain about the greed and ingratitude of the Poser customer base. M

Thanks all again for the prompt info...I just wanted to know whether I could use freebie because the DAZ notes were, to my reading, somewhat cryptic about requirements. For the record, I think DAZ is pretty good about offering content to users...and sometimes the add-ons are adequate incentive to invest in other products (for example, I did purchase all the V3/M3 morphs after aquiring the free figures...before that I purchased V2, Steph1, the MillKids and much more). Yes, $60.00 is pricey for any package (pricey for any FIGURE even), but I didn't intend this thread to strike any kind of ingrateful tone. Thanks Again for the Clarification, michael

pdog, don't worry about it, whenever DAZ comes into the equation there's always someone ready to have a go at them for whatever reason. [Not aimed at anyone in this thread by the way!]. Cheers!!! thefixer, poser coord.

Anyone who defends against Greed is for sure wealthy. Not able to see the problem. What is wrong with V3 head morph? It comes with its own internationl morph. So, their is for sure something wrong, that they have to find a way of trying to sell the product (International Beauties morphs). No one is buying it.
freyfaxi posted Sun, 16 October 2005 at 4:28 PM
Thanks for the clarification. I grabbed the freebie..after all it IS free. OK..so it seems I can't use it because I don't have the International Beauty pack..ahh well..I'll tuck the freebie away for maybe a later day..who knows ? And, I, for one..do NOT see the problem in a company giving away something, to encourage folks to purchase something from then. You don't HAVE to purchase what they are offering, do you ? And where is the difference between say a company offering a freebie that needs a particular product and say an individual un-connected with the company offering a freebie for the same item. After all..isn't that what the majority of the freebies here are ? Most of them need commercial products to work as well ?
Robo2010 posted Sun, 16 October 2005 at 4:52 PM
V3 Head Morph $20...International and Diverse.
V3 Base = Free V3 Head and Body Morphs = $30
International Beauty $60
Do not see a problem..go buy it then and read. It is written what is required. Didn't have to make a thread..."Do you need this?"..when it is written right in front of you.

Wow, this forum's a bit on edge...
While I'm not presently logged into the DAZ freestuff archive to see the exact wording, I thought it said something about being "for the Int. Beauties Pack and the V3 Head Morph Pack"...well, I purchased the V3 head morphs, so I didn't see any harm in asking whether that meant I could use this freebie to generate some distinctively ethnic head shapes...apparently not. No big deal.
I don't have the fastest connection and don't have unlimited data storage capacity, so I generally won't download unless I know if/how I might use the files.
Thanks again to the first few respondents for clearing it up for me...if I were comforatable enough with the unwritten rules around here, I'd delete the thread entirely (but that might deprive someone of their opportunity to tell me I've posted a stupid question ;)

pdog, you haven't asked a stupid question, and you're right it is getting out of hand so I'm going to lock it now as you've had your answer and so that it doesn't deteriorate further. thefixer, poser coord.
