Try Deselecting interpolation in the render settings. And nice start.

Hey Esther , Didn't take you long to get your first render out and you also got toon working. Is the Toon rendering Toon pro or the regular Carrara Toon . Also it is nice to see Poser 6 imports fine without poser 5 on your machine. Mike

Hi Mike, well I won't get too excited about the import yet, as I've only tried importing one PZ3. Oh, okay, I'm excited. Can't help it. I haven't tried carrara's toon thingy, this is the toonpro from www.digitalcarversguild.com but as you can see I stil haven't got the hang of it. I wasn't planning to do ordinary renders, just toons, but I'm absolutely blown away by the photorealistic rendering. It's unreal good! What does interpolation do? I'm just rendering without it now to see if I can spot the difference. How do I make the windows look like glass? Can I just import one of the skies without losing my scene and have to reimport my scene? Love esther

-Interpolation speeds up the rendering so it is not as precise with interpolation checked. See page 557 of C4 manual. - for importing skies use the Presets in the Properties tray/atmosphere area (see image)(pg 418-422 in manual) - for glass textures , open the browser and open the shaders part and look for the glass texture and drag and drop this onto your object. Have fun. Mike

Thanks. I'm really starting to love this proggie! I actually just did find the shaders, and I didn't know about drag and drop but I double clicked on the shader while the object was selected, so hopefully that will also work. It's after midnight here and I have to work tomorrow, and damn, I turned interpolation off so this render is going to take awhile, but I have to wait and see how it comes out. Love esther

Hi estherau, Glad to see your are enjoying this program. once you learn to customize you GI &HDRI settings you will get even better results. here is render i did using only an HDR image to light the scene but imported a simple Jpeg as a background image for the sky. remember Carrara imports posers scene lights as well so if you use a scene wizard preset that already has preset lights the imported poser lights may "blow out" your image so remember to delete the imported poser lights after import unless you want to use them

Nice work. This brings up a a question. Are most using the tex mapping in carrara or poser...or do you prefer something else.I know several people like zbrush. By, the way if you have an Ati card...D|S renders pretty bad, unless you use 3delight which isn't as nice as carrara(imo).

No need to think outside the box....
    Just make it invisible.

For the last couple of years or so, all my renders are from poser to carrara, Ill never go back to P4 rendering. I use the texture mapping that is imported from Transposer, but Ill tweek a lot of them. Most of my scenes usually have one or two spots or a distant (for the sun) and indirect lighting. Sometimes Ill create a plane opposite the figure to bounce some of the lighting back on to the subject. Just be ready for some longer, but higher quality renders.

E
