Maybe try mixing the material with some dirt, and upping the bump just a tick. That is indeed a weird pattern on showing up on the sails. Here is a perfect texture, its the 2nd oneiloco posted Sun, 06 November 2005 at 10:34 AM
This is really interesting.
I don't have the C3d model of that cutter but do have the free one when A Garcia let us have them for free. Only difference I can tell is the texturing.
I loaded it and tryed to add a jpg texture to one the sails and it will not apply.
I am no modeler but curious if anyone can get a texture applied.
I take that you are working with the default sail texture that is on the C3d model you are working with.
There is a problem with models from C3d taking textures into poser so I am curios more now than before what is taking place with some the models.
I hope others will jump in here and confirm or let us know how they are able to work with the textures so they will apply correctly.

no.. not the stock texture anymore.. i have completely redone it over time, though it' really no better now than the stock texture was. : the more I up the bump, the worse it gets... the big question... how do I get an image into the bump channel? (suppose i can go open the manual huh?, damn i hate having to do that LOL)

Right click the sphere preview and choose edit, or control click the sphere. You'll land in the function editor, where you'll have to click on the texture map icon on the left, connect it to the bump channel, and then load your bitmap.

Usually a fast way to avoid moirpatterns is to enlarge the scale of the material until it goes away.

dlk30341 did you use the mapped jpg as the bump and I see you have it set for Object-Parametric. Curious what your bump setting was. Looking good.

is it just me or does Vue's "preview ball" not look ANYTHING like the final product? have tried all the view styles.... would be nice if you decrease the size of the texture it would show in the preview... yes?

You are right...the texture ball stays the size the orignal JPG/proc. was done with. You have to render to see the results. On the particular pic above, the texture didn't even look the same on the sail, till I rendered it. It looked like the sand that come with Vue o.O OTOH - the ball is small to begin with....even with my glasses on, I wouldn'nt be able to tell LOL

yaa.. I always hit the "option button" when in the editor and click on the 2D setting.. makes it closer but still not really what gets rendered. It's kinda wierd cause Vue's texture editor is one of the most detailed i have dealt with and yet has the least accurate display.... hmmm something maybe we should ask for in next version?

I have sent them an email requesting a larger (256x256 or 512x512) preview of Vue Materials, Vobs, etc. (like the kind of render you can get in the Plant Editor) and they said it was a "nice idea" and they would "consider it". They also said "Nobody had ever asked this before" (heh!) ---with most people using 1024 x 768 monitor displays, or HIGHER- Vue's material, Vob, etc. are TINY! The previews were obviously written for Vue 3-4 ERA displays of 800 x 600. So-- Hopefully OTHERS will also request this for the next version of Vue so they will DO IT! (I cannot believe others have NOT asked for this!)

I can't believe nobody has requested larger editor windows! After reading this, I just put in a request also, so they now have at least two customers asking for it. Sorry to get off topic here...MG

Hi, well I got same pattern on some clothing and was blaming the texture until I rendered at higher quality, and all those funny ripple lines disappeared. Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
