Subject: Slippery Lights (Cont)

Continuation of earlier thread. Trying to figure out why Poser shifts the lights around during render procedure after the lights have been carefully sited and adjusted. Once the render is finished, the lights move back to where they were.

Is it actually effecting the result of the render in any way?

If not, I think I know what is happening. When you render, the little Poser Gnomes inside your computer are switching to each ShadowLite Cam (see my reply to your earlier post), one-by-one, for each light you have set up. They take a picture with each of these cam's which determines the shape of the shadows that will be painted onto your scene.

Generally Poser hides all of the Gnomes' doings to you, but in this case it's letting something slip. It has switched to the ShadowLite Cam of one of your lights that sits above your scene, and you are momentarily seeing the light-control ball from the perspective of that camera. Poser has managed to keep the actual scene in your viewport to remain the same though.

I just went back and read the latest comments on the original message and it looks like bloodsong already explained it perfectly.

And from what I can see in the pic above, these 'slippery lights' aren't causing any unwanted effects in teh resulting render.
