Subject: Is it just me, or does DAZ not reply to customer questions

DVTVFilm ( ) posted Wed, 16 November 2005 at 11:38 AM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 11:29 AM

Is it just me, or does DAZ not reply to customer questions about their orders? I have a problem with 2 of my recent purchases: (emailed them twice...) House Mouse -- the installer is for OS9-- and will not install on OS-X Tiger I've asked for a relacement product or a version that will install with OS-X Millenium Unicorn -- is missing the blMilFoal.obj file. So a foal can't be created, even though the CR2 file is present indicating it's a valid character that can be used. I installed it twice- the obj file simply isn't there in the Geometry folder (or anywhere else. ) For someone just joining the platinum club-- it's not going well... any suggestions to resolve the problem appreciated regards

Not sure about the Mac problem but the Unicorn looks like an add on for the Millenium Horse. Do you own the Millenium Horse pack? It says this one the Unicorn Page: ______________________________________________________ Add an element of fantasy to your Millennium Horse and Millennium Foal. With the addition of these new morphs, texture maps, and Unicorn Horn props your Millennium Horse can easily transform into a being of pure magic. ______________________________________________________ Tom

The Millenium Unicorn requires that the 'Millenium Horse Bundle' product be installed (the foal isn't in the 'Millenium Horse' product) (ie. it isn't stand alone).

It can take a few days for DAZ to send back an answer, but they usually do

Don't e-mail them. Use the contact form, and check "tech support." That's the fastest way to get a response from DAZ.

The Millennium foal is a special bonus that you get only if you buy the Millennium Horse bundle. If you didn't buy the bundle, you can't use the unicorn foal.

When you contact them, suggest that they drop the antiquated Vice installer technique they've been using since the 1980s. I've asked them to supply their products in zip files like every sane merchant does, but they have a paternalistic approach in that they believe the customer is too stupid to know where these files go, without being led by the hand.

yes I have the Millenium horse. I checked if the foal was there and I could apply the foal unicorn mat.. The foal is missing there too. I've reduced the size of the horse and morphed it a bit to look like a foal in the piece I'm working on. So.. that's my work-around for now until I sort this all out. thanks all...

It's not enough to have the Millennium Horse. You must have the Millennium Horse Bundle to get the foal. It's a larger, more expensive package than the plain ol' Millennium Horse.

The only way to get the Foal is in the Bundle. You can return the Mil Horse and buy the Bundle if you wanted the Foal. It is on special today and tomorrow DAZ Time. I do not have Mac, so I can not help you with the other.

I've always gotten an email back when I've written. There are 2 "Millennium Horse" packages at Daz. Millennium Horse BUNDLE http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=2105 This one includes the foal Millennium Horse http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=2104 This one is just the horse. It does not have the foal. If you want the foal, you need to buy the "Millennium Horse Bundle". Then there is the Millennium Unicorn http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=2122 The Millennium Unicorn is an addon package to the Millennium Horse Bundle. However, you can use it with just the Millennium Horse package, only you won't be able to use the unicorn foal parts because you don't have a foal in the plain Millennium Horse package. If you want to take full advantage of the Millennium Unicorn package, then you will have to have the Millennium Horse Bundle installed.

WOW! The 80s? I never knew DAZ or even Zygote was around that long....

Zip or .exe files makes no difference to me. I process one file at a time and place it in a folder on my desk top before it goes to my runtime folder. Though, a zipped file would be smaller for storage than a .exe file. So from that perspective I wouldn't mind them switching to a .zip format.

I have always gotten a quick response from them and have been a PC member for a while. They are responsive and helpful in my experience. seattletim

They are also very helpful if you call the 1-800 number (if you can) and have your information available. I still have my OS9 around so that isn't a problem but I can see how it might be. Good luck
