I'm looking for info on a multiplane animation effect I'm seeing alot on the teli. It looks like it is done using After Effects. Basiclly it looks like it's done with a 2D image, say an old painting, and the background and forgrounds are somehow spit apart to create a kind of 3d multiplane. I've scene used to great effect with old photo and medevel paintings Whats the 411

Hmmm. I'd have to see it to know what you mean. My guess would be it's done in a compositing software, like AfterEffects. If it's done by some big studio, you can almost bet it's being done on some really high-end workstations running something outrageous like Inferno, for highly advanced and scriptable composite FX.
Tools : 3dsmax 2015, Daz Studio 4.6, PoserPro 2012, Blender
v2.74
System: Pentium QuadCore i7, under Win 8, GeForce GTX 780 / 2GB
GPU.

I think you talk to effects like that of Van Helsing when the two knights inside the painting start fighting?
