Hi, I'm searching for a software that is especially good for creating planetary images seen from the orbit. I have tried Mojoworld so far but while it's features are nice, the resolution of the planet is too low and the planets surface is often to repetitive. Also it seems the planet size cannot be changed. I've have tried the Photoshop PlugIn Flaming Pear LunarCell and it's result are very good. The surface has a nice and realistic detail but then again the surfaces look always very similar on every planet, especially the cloud layers and the plugin lacks somewhat on the features side, I would like to for example create ring systems. I think Vue or Wouldbuilder are not really useful for this task as they are not made to create a whole planet. My question: Are there any other applications that would be dedicated for such a task?

You could try the 'Universe' plugin from www.universeimagecreator.com or you could use Vue but with a custom image map for the planet. The image below was created in Vue with a detailed map of Mars:

If one constructs a planet properly, one can minimise this effect..especially if you use some latitude blends. planet size is quite easy to change...

Thanks for the hint but I've tried Universe Image Creator and it is actually a bit too limited for what I want to do. @pushinfaders I'm sure Mojoworld is capable to do alot more and get better quality and diversity but I'm sure it takes quite some diigin in the deep of the app. I think I stick with Photoshop for now unless somebody knows of any real hi-quality app for this task but it might be non existing. Here's an example of what I'm trying to achieve and I did it fully with only Photoshop.... http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=1097561&Start=1&Sectionid=4&filter_genre_id=0&WhatsNew=Yes I doubt I get similar results with Mojoworld.

I use this program, works pretty good. It's a plugin for photoshop or photopaint. http://www.flamingpear.com/lunarcell.html

As I said before..Mojoworld does a great job at rendering planets from space..
Here's example one
Example two..a more earth like planet
Example 3
each of these was done from an existing planet in my collection..
Any of these images could have been done with the FREE Viewer. (it does add a water mark in one corner)
You could also use the FOCUS product from Pandromeda. It's a great value.($49). Infact, it now comes with the Version 3 Planet Wizard !!
These and Demo version of the entire Pandromeda line are available HERE
