I've been playing with bryce.. looking for a specific effect, I'm not still satisfied of what I've found but I'm close to. The effect I'm talking about is a dust cloud, not only a simple cloud, I wanted it to have some "stuff" and dynamic, to create some explosion without fire or ,why not, a sand storm. I wanted a volumetric material for it, I'm close to get the result I'm looking for but I just can't add some "noise" in the DTE to get that particular effect, wich is done usualy using a particule animation software. If anyone has a clue, an idea... that's would be much appreciated. Here is my first attempt

Heh. I saw The Mummy Returns again the other day. Now, pidjy, create that wall-of-water creature... :-) Can you post the settings from the material room? I've been experimenting with dust clouds recently. I haven't created anything really usable yet, but your settings might give me an idea.

how about a greyscale picture of a human face? Use as a terrain, then texture to suit? never done it myself, but it could work.

the terrain don't get that "fuzzy" aspect that you got with primitives when applying a volumetric texture.

Terrains get really weird when you apply some volumetric textures. Regardless whether you check Solid or not.

Is this close to what you want? The original maker of the volumetric doesn't have a current site up (ie. the link is dead...) but David (Hamfast) may have it in his archives, and *he* is definitely still around.

put a image in photoshop and get the gains you wish and the cloud look too. I never done it but it may work. i have use the gains in some of my images like "pacman" not a cloud just a texture you see

what you see is not what you know; it in your face
