I was wondering, how much does a computer graphics artist get paid? For doing the cover of a book for example? Or a CD cover?

Well, in my innocence I used to think that it wasn't a lot, you know, a hundred bucks or so, but I hear tell that we actually get paid fair sums for things like that - in the thousands in the high-end cases! I'm really not sure the exact numbers, but this'll help you get into the right frame of reference. -Zak

hmm.. from $100-$1000 - that's a lot of range, can someone give an example? "I did the CD cover of 'band X', and got $1" for example. (The artist of the example must have become a hermit!)
