Again a pic I did not know where to post. Sara, a neighbor Labrador, had just got 6 puppies, and her folks wanted a portrait of her. Took this photo and gave her a new bckground and painted, so I posted it to the 2D Gallery.Zacko posted Thu, 01 December 2005 at 5:19 AM
OH MY GOD!!! You are incredible at giving a photo that painted touch. Once again i feel the need to wish for a special photo-manipulation gallery. Then there wouldnt be a confusion on where to put images like these. I just dont think that the "Mixed Medium" is a good substitute for that. Oops...back to that picture. You did mighty well my swedish friend. Man kanske kan skicka en bestlning pett liknande av Eija till dig. #;O)

i know it gets confusing when painting is involved in a photo that you yourself have shot.. we've discussed clarifying the use of the 2D gallery which is for photo manips too but i think the problem lies in whether the member took the shot or used stock so they should get credit for both.. just the way it is for now.. i would like to see the galleries set up much like they have them at DeviantArt but even that way takes a lot of maneuvering to post in the right place.. anyway.. wonderfully worked Gun, always impressive! thanks for showing us ;]
Zacko posted Thu, 01 December 2005 at 10:59 AM
Oooh...i agree with you Cindy. They sure are organized there. I actually registered there a few weeks ago and was about to post a photo...but after 10 minutes of maneuvering i gave up, LOL. And to be quite honest...i also felt very unloyal towards RR so i never went back there again...yup, im that pathetic. Someone hand me that RR T-shirt already, LOL.

Thanks! About DeviantArt, I have a gallery there, but only for showing the givers of stockphotos what I made of their work. They require that, and also to be linked to if you post it somewhere else. I don't communicate there, though, besides giving link to what I did. It takes so much time, and my loyalties are bound to RR :-)
cynlee posted Thu, 01 December 2005 at 11:25 AM
i do like the outline of the galleries there but i like the simplicity of the layout here at RR!.. not so confusing with what i think is way too many options there.. now if only we can get this site to work a little faster..
i am excited, anxious & a bit unsure what will happen here when everything finally gets switched over to PHP.. we shall see..

What does PHP mean? Im also a member at this swedish photo-site where you have the following options on upload via options-boxes: * Has this photo been manipulated? * Would like this photo to be the subject of critizism? Roughly translated of course. You can also list your camera equipment in a special field if you like. And if you do check the "Allow Critizism" (regular comments are always enabled) your photo also gets uploaded into a specific "pool" where you really get honest feedback...something that alot of people in here seem to ask for. Seriously...what is PHP?

honestly i am not all that computer literate but from my understanding it will make applying changes to the site much easier.. it's a sort of format that websites are built on.. please feel free to correct me if anyone should know better all that you just suggested andreas has been brought up before in using here the problem seems to be that the more options asked for in the site's current state the slower it becomes & impossible to apply found this link on it but there's more that could be googled forZacko posted Thu, 01 December 2005 at 12:52 PM

I would like to see a place for the Purists....those that do no enhancements...some....will not even "Post" next to One that might have used PotatoShop to compensate their Non-State of the Art Cameras....yes...what about an "Elitist Gallery" for those convinced that Manipulations and Post Work do not belong in Photography....salute...and a fine Doggie Image. woof
gunsan posted Thu, 01 December 2005 at 1:33 PM
Thanks for explaining a little about PHP, I was just going to ask. Sorry to say, I don't understand a bit :-), but I trust it will be something good.
Margana posted Thu, 01 December 2005 at 6:12 PM
LOL @ Brian.
I've just always wondered, why can't there simply be an additional category under photography for Photo-manipulations,like 'Food' and whatever. It's only one additional category...and then it would no longer be necessary to put it in 2D... And I'm sure it's not a simple thing at all,so forgive any ignorance on my part in advance, please. :^)

yes.. that has been suggested, as well as a "no postwork" genre.. but any changes will not happen till after the move to PHP photo manipulations are allowed in the photo gallery.. painted photos have been uploaded to the photo gallery, we don't make a fuss about moving them to 2D how different is it from applying a paint filter.. well, if we are admiring the painting technique then i would suggest 2D.. if we are to admire the photo, then photos it's left up to the member as long as the photo is taken by the member in the photo gallery (or a collab)
