Is there a fast way to place a vertical guide that falls exactly in the center of the canvas? I mean without counting and measuring manually. An automated option.
The manual does not mention such a possibility, but maybe it is undocumented.
If there isn't an automated way, what steps do you take to make an easy and fast measurement? Both the ruler and grid are not comfortable for me.
thanks in advance

I don't know an automated way, but here is how I do it, maybe it could be usefull. I pick the slice tool, then divide the image vertically in two equal slices (from the context menu) and then drag the guide until it snaps the borderline of the slices.

Have the snap on and rulers showing: Select > All (Ctrl-A) Select > Tranform Selection Pull a guide from left ruler (and/or from top ruler) until it snaps to center pivot point Press Enter or Esc Select > Deselect (Ctrl-D) I'm sure there are plenty of other ways but this is what I use.

Possibly slightly easier: Yes, make sure Snap and Rulers are active - View>Snap, View>Rulers Click on your bottom layer in your layer stack, click on the left ruler on your image and drag out to the middle and the guide will snap into place at exactly the center. If you try it on any upper layer, you go through the Ctrl+A function, do it on the bottom and it's automatic. Hope that helps- -Lew ;-)

Hello, yes, it turned out to be very simple - in fact the guide snaps to center if you have the snap option on - I had it off, so I could not notice it. Thanks everybody! Orio

Here are few tips that I find very useful, if you want to check the canvas info hold ALT+LMB on the left corner in the status bar where is the size of the doc., that way you can quickly count where is the middle of the canvas. For precise placing of the guides go to view-new guide and enter the exact number for example if the canvas is 1024x1024px enter 512px and thats it fast and precise. Also if you place for example the guide horizontal and you need it vertical, just place the cursor over the guide press ALT and move it very slightly it will rotate for 90 :) Tihomir
