I have received some questions from my recent gallery posting on how I achieved the rotting hull look. The textures I used are those I recommended in Dracs recent forum thread ( http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=107&Form.ShowMessage=2494493) by Magma. There are some 9 packs in all all are worth downloading, but the pack you want is called magma-sftp-nurnies and it contains 82 textures (inc bumps and transparencies). Your folder should contain textures, bump maps and transparency maps that include these...

The key is twinning a texture with its appropriate transparency map. In Bryce, select your model and enter the Materials Editor... Go to the Texture Source Editor and choose a texture you like (2, 3, 4, 7, 8. 9, 13 are appropriate for spacewrecks... Eg, Nurnie-07-col1.jpg ) and its corresponding transparency map (its name will include the letters tr, eg Nurnie-07-tr.jpg)

Configure the texture as you would normally at this stage your preview just shows you lots of black

Select Transparency in the Optics section, and your preview should suddenly develop lots of empty space...

H'mm they look like great textures but I seem to get a forbiden page when I go there and it won't let me in, as anyone else got this problem?
