I updated my computer to XP SP2, I was not going to but I decided it was a must do. I clicked on my Poser 6 icon and now it totally just freezes up. I updated my Poser 6 with all the updates. First has this happened to anyone else, second should I uninstall my Poser 6, reinstall it with all the updates...will that make it work again? Sharen

I was leary about doing the XP SP2 as well, but I got tired of being alerted everytime I logged on, so I finally got it earlier this year. I haven't had any troubles, but then again I turned off the firewall in Control Panel, as I heard that it causes a host of problems for graphic programs. If you haven't turned off the firewall (SP2 turns it on by default), that may be your problem.

I haven't had any problems with XP2 ... use the firewall everyday. Something probably happened to the registry entry for poser ...or maybe the shortcut got messed up. Will it run if you click the Poser.exe directly in the P6 directory???? If not, you might as well reinstall Poser 6. Just save your runtime in a different directory, install P6 and the patches, then copy over your old runtime and you will be back where you started.

I don't have any problem with P6 and I have XP SP2 but I had SP2 before I installed P6. My guess is that you should reinstall P6 just to be on the safe side. ;o)

It may be the firewall the update reenables that and Poser likes to call home on boot up.

I did try right from the Poser.exe and it crashes. I think I am going to reinstall and then update only with the sr1 and hope that it works. Thank you all for your ideas and help. Sharen

PS: I always turn my firewalls off when I work with Poser.
