Some of you have commented on my image and suggested it looks as if it has been made using Xenodream. Michelle (daffodilbaggins) has also requested me to share the secret of how the cube was created.

Firstly no tricks with this one it has been created using only Ultra Fractal. For the cube a special thanks and much deserved credit to Samuel Monnier for his Platonic Solids and Polygonal Scissor mapping transformations. He has created a short tutorial on his website, The Para-Mathematical Gallery, to show you how this works. There is also a wealth of information on other transformations, formulas and colourings he has created as well as his own stunning artwork. There is a parfile for this cube to help you understand how it is created. Please do not use this parfile to upload as your own image - this is his own work - please start from scratch and only refer to his parfile for information. The spiral was created first and then I applied the Platonic Solids mapping transformation. Credits to Dennis Magar for use of the Doodads II colouring algorithm.

The floor was created using Red Williams Landscape mapping transformation. The reflection on the floor was created using Damien Jones Mirror mapping transformation. Again credits to both authors. The reflection required a bit of adjustment in the location tab to align it as perfectly as possible under the cube.

The wall was created using Mark Townsends Gnarl formula and Samuel Monniers Truchet Tiles colouring algorithm. Credits once again to Samuel Monnier and Mark Townsend.

The rest is all down to masking, lighting, experimentation and determination.

Thanks for your comments. I hope this has given you some inspiration to try it yourselves.
