I am wanting to make some 3d models I have mimic ready. I have 3d max 3.1 and poser pro pack. Any help to get me going would be greatly appreciated. Thanks xout

Take a look at the Poser4 nude male & female, they have phenome morphs for the heads. Your figures will need these type of morphs created and named the same way. Poser figure creation is a huge learning process to go through. Here are a few links that may get you started: www.bushi3d.com www.nerd3d.com http://clabs.3dprotagonist.com/

There is also a shortcut for using mimic with pretty good results. You only really need one morph. Make the mouth open and close. Then name the dial for that morph "OpenLips". When you load a .wav file and assign it to that morph. It works good enough without having to create all those extra morphs. You don't really need all the other Phenomes and junk. They just add more articulate movements to the mouth. But they aren't really needed. ScottA

Yeah, you don't need "Phonemes and junk". Even Flintstones-level animation is far beyond anything that is necessary! No need to ever do better than that!

"No need to ever do better than that!" Trey Parker and Matt Stone would be proud;-)...

Assigning a wave file to a morph, could you explain more on that subject?

Mimic works by taking a .wav file and assigning it to the mouth morph targets to make the lips move to match the .wav file. If you have a .wav file of someone talking. Then assigning it to a Poser figure with mimic will make it talk according to that .wav file. There is also a text field in Mimic that refines the movement. But you don't really need to mess with that until you get a good grasp of the process. ScottA

Take the dolphin in poser when I asign a mimic track to it the head moves but the mouth does not. It's dial is labled mouth open not openlips. Would this be the reason for the mouth not working? If yes what steps would I have to take to change it. Make new morph, change name, change settings. Just trying to find a starting place. Thanks

Yes. The dial MUST be labled "OpenLips". Just double click that dial and change the name in the pop-up window. Take a look at the help files that come with Mimic. They tell you what the dials (morphs) need to be named amoung other things. ScottA
