Okay, so I import thirty-two vines I got from 3dplants.com into this scene I'm doing. Their collective Kb's equal around 4Mb before importing...after they're in Bryce and I put a simple procederial texture on them (or even with no texture), suddenly the scene equals 16Mb! (The vines are the ONLY thing in this particular scene). Even exported as a .obp, it still equals 16Mb....any suggestions, theories? Why is this? (Makes me wish Bryce had a polygon reducer) AgentSmith

AS, 3DS and DXF file formats have a VERY high polygon count, thus explaining the size of thee scene.A file could be small in size, but be filled with polygons (For example, a poser 3ds imported into bryce raises the file size significantly. it would be very nice if they did have one, but there are so much more they need to work on first IMO :) Regards, Matt

so convert .3ds and .dxf to wavefront .obj with a file conversion program or an app like rhino with controls of poly counts. I usse both viewpoint interchange and rhino to fix this.

Ah, yes I forgot Rhino could control the poly count upon export (duh). Thanks a lot people! I'm also trying to replicate the vines via the symmetrical lattice in Bryce. Since they are in the background they don't have to be THAT high-res. Thanks again! AgentSmith
