Hi again all, I am totally confused again! I seem to be missing a lot of things but I am just kinda maiking it up as I go. Well I have made my very first mesh, an extremly micro skirt for a modified poser model, modified with the morph dials available to make the figure smaller and more petite. I exported said model as an 3ds, then loaded that into 3dsmax. I removed all the body that was uneeded and built on it. I created a new cyl. and built that into a skirt by moves pulls and extrudes. I then added a mesh smooth and I think it looks ok... esp. as I am a begginer. I then imprted the mesh into poser from a 3ds, went into the setup room and and began ataching the bones by loading the same figure I built it for... problems start. First the figure I loaded for bone is up in the air, and no where near the skirt, solvable but annoying. Next prob., I tried to add the bones, hit the auto group, then as a test I went back to the pose room. The mesh is now in pieces. cracks down the center and other places. Now I may have an idea about that, but correct me if I am wrong and if you could suggest what to do if I am right. I have the mesh as one solid mesh named MIMS (micro miniskirt) and I belive that it needs something else and... split up right? can you help, if it adjust the info any the skirt is VERY low on the butt and barely covers the upper parts of the legs. Now for the other question. I noticed the program for installing poser stuff mentioned some posts back, but is there one that could simplify sorting of files already installed? Thanks for all the help and patience... if I can get this working I will be posting it on my site.

Poser needs a mesh in Wavefront OBJ format before you can apply bones. That might be as simple as importing your 3DS mesh and exporting as OBJ. You'll also need to group it - although if it's as short as you say it is, then the only group you need is 'hip'. That can be done in UVMapper at the same time as the texture mapping. Have a look at the linked tutorial. It may cover some stuff you already know, but there may be some helpful titbits. In particular, if you can't import an OBJ mesh without any positioning or scaling, and have it fit onto the figure in zero pose, you won't get anywhere. That should be your first goal.
