Anyone have this problem before? I've built a poser figure and while testing textures Poser shows white lines where the UV seams are. I know for a fact that the texture is within the UV template. I imported the model and texture into Bryce and it renders fine with no seams showing. It seems that if I render up close on the offending areas them look better, but farther way you see the lines. I've attached a link to some perviews I'd done showing this. (The textured images at the bottom of page) Anyone have this happen before or any hints on how to fix it?-David

In Poser's render options, turn off texture filtering, increase your max texture size, or lower the shading rate.

Thanks but the shading rate is dropped to 0.1 and text size is 4096. Texture filtering was on however, why would that cause that?

The manual states that texture filter softens a texture, which to me looks like it blurs it just a bit. The result is that that the "background" area of a texture can bleed a little into the "active" area when rendered. In your case it appears the your background color was white. This also can happen when textures are being previewed in Poser. To help avoid this I generally have my textures slop out of the active area instead of trying to stay inside of the lines. Chris Cox

I see, thanks, I had made the texture in ZBrush which paints on the model in 3d, and stays within the lines. I'll keep this in mind next time, thanks! -Dave

As Chris says. Poser scales the texture down considerably for preview use. As part of the (necessarily for slow old computers) quick-and-dirty scaling down process, the pixels near the edge of the seams get logically OR'd with pixels outside the seams. Ways to lessen the effect are to use smaller textures sizes - if small enough no scaling down is required, and thus not pixel creep occurs (e.g. standard Poser 4 charater textures). 'Course rendered quality will be down. Extend image a little beyond borders, for the ideal it should be from the edge of the corresponding seam! But you can mitigate the effect by simply flooding the unused part of the UV Map with a color very close to that used on near the offending seams - or that of the one that bothers you most. Should be able to achieve this, perhaps even with blending, in Photoshop, with some careful masking steps.

Thanks for the tips guys! and RKane_1, thats for the comments. It started out as a study (my first poser figure) I have'nt made up my mind if I'll make him a freebie or not :)
