Does anybody knows if vicky or michael will conform too, or is it just for poser 4 standard figures? Who is the bicycle brokered for? I though it was made by Jim Burton, but I received an email saying its brokered for Rob Whisenant. Thanks in advance.
JeffH posted Sat, 17 March 2001 at 6:37 AM
It looks like Jim's Bike, probably a mistake on DAZ' part. The odd thing is that the display doesn't mention who it's brokered for. -JH.
JKeller posted Sat, 17 March 2001 at 10:05 AM
Generally if it doesn't say it's brokered by anyone that means it was made by DAZ staff.
zimmer posted Sat, 17 March 2001 at 10:19 AM
Yes, but Jim have been posting some images of the bicycle in the forums to see the progress of his work. And he also said that probably it was going to be sold through DAZ.
JKeller posted Sat, 17 March 2001 at 10:54 AM
Hmmm....Rob has a BMX bike at DAZ. Maybe Jim didn't know his was available yet?
zimmer posted Sat, 17 March 2001 at 11:49 AM
Maybe... Well, I dont know. Ive just wrote Jim an email, and if its a mistake DAZ will correct it. But the question is ;-)... Will Mike and Vicki conform to it or is it just for standard poser 4 figures? ;-) Anybody has the bicycle yet?
steveshanks posted Sat, 17 March 2001 at 2:41 PM
Vikki and Mike conform to it very very well indeed....the poser figures conform well too but need the feet moved slightly on the x axis......the model though is uterley FANTASTIC and I don't say that lightly, if your into cycling you need this........Steve PS I'm sure its Jims
zimmer posted Sat, 17 March 2001 at 2:44 PM
Thanks Steve, Ill go and get it now. Im sure too its Jims. Ive been reading past threads in this forums by him and its evident its his bicycle.

According to what I've seen with regard to progress on the new bike, I believe it is in fact Jim Burton's. I think there may have been some confusion with the BMX that I built quite a while back. Being that there isn't anyone at DAZ over the weekend it'll have to wait till they come in Monday to be corrected. I sent a correction in reply to the list mail DAZ sent out stating my name as the brokeree was a misprint. I've also left voice mail... so as soon as they get to work on Monday I'm sure they'll correct it. My apologies for the confusion.
BTW Jim, should you read this post... please contact me (webmaster@rbtwhiz.com) so I have an email address I can forward all of the messages I've been receiving concerning your bike. Thanks.

For me it conforms for the feet only and the arms stay in the T position.

Arturito: I have not bought it (yet!) but I noticed that the Daz page says the SEAT IS ADJUSTABLE. I'm betting this is your problem. There should be a morph dial for seat height. Try it and see if that does the trick. -Tim
zimmer posted Sun, 18 March 2001 at 6:29 AM
Ok, timoteo1, Ill try that and Ill tell you. Maybe thats the solution. Thanks. Arturo
zimmer posted Sun, 18 March 2001 at 7:10 AM
It doesnt work, Tim. In fact, the height of the seat doesnt affect in any way the coformed pose of the figure. Arturo

This is odd coz vikki works perfect for me.......her feet are just above the pedals to leave room for the shoes..Steve

Ok, default Vickie doesnt conform good, but I tried with Jims cr2 update for Poser 4.0.3 and it works. Ive also tried with the old Millie by Jaager and it also works, and even with Audrey by Handspan Studios. But it doesnt work with the default Vickie, or even with Jaagers new MillieJCM. Ive tried it cheking and uncheking inverse kinematics and use limits options. Anybody knows whats going on?

Hi guys! My Internet provider had my accountr messed up, so I haven't be online for a couple of days, but yep, it is my bike (I think DAZ is also crediting Robert's account for the sales too, but I'll get that straighted out) Anyway, some figures conform right from the start, other you have to play with a little- move the figure's hip translations to get the figure on the seat properly, and if you have too adjust the feet's translations to get the feet on the pedals. If the knees bend the wrong way turning the bicycle's crank a turn or two should fix that. Some figures (the Posette) need the seat lowered a little, just like in real life! If you resave the figure set it should conform O.K. the next time. Some figures (read Super Model Vickie) also need the "defaunt slight bend" put back in tht someone (me) mistakenly took out (because the figure looks better standing up straight). The SMV update (which will be out shortly) will have it back in, as well.
Jim Burton posted Sun, 18 March 2001 at 11:00 AM
Oh- and my EMail address is burtonj@bucks.edu I think a lot of the Poser figures have built-in transitions in their feet, which is why some conform right away, and some dont. I decided not to conform the upper body to allow for various hand positions, like the hands-straight-up "I've won this race" pose! This bicycle is something new for me, as everything else has been figures and clothing and other organic stuff. It was great fun to make, I think I might have O.Ded on the detail a little, but at least it will stand closeups! If you fit the bump maps your see the drailers say "Champion", as I couldn't put "Campangnolo" on them, but maybe I'll try and email Campy and ask them if I can do that- I wonder if anyone over there reads English?
zimmer posted Sun, 18 March 2001 at 11:24 AM
This way it works perfectly. I just had to modify a bit Vickis feet position with the x, y, z dials and a bit of bend and thats all. Once conformed, if I rotate the crank the feet keep in their place! Thanks for your help, Jim. ps. oh, and the bicycle is absolutely awesome
nitreug posted Sun, 18 March 2001 at 1:32 PM
How do you make the bicycle running in an animation like the one Jim Burton did show us a while ago?
zimmer posted Sun, 18 March 2001 at 2:33 PM
Its easy. In the animation palette type a number of total frames (200 for example). Just place the bike and conform the figure you want. Once this is done, move the animation slider to the last frame. Select the cranckset, and type in "x-rotate", 3000. Then, just press play.
Jim Burton posted Mon, 19 March 2001 at 7:37 AM
I did the very first animation manually, it took hours to get the feet on the pedals and keep them there, that is when I decided to do the bicycle as a conforming figure, but backward from clothing, so the figure would be conformed to the bicycle, not the other way around. I was sort of suprized that it worked as well as it does, I did have to add JCM-like rotations to the pedals, so they rotate with the crank- otherwise they wouldn't stay flat. The only fly in the ointment I can see is: if you have an animation with two bicycles in it, the crank in bicycle 1 turns the pedals in bicycle 2, which is O.K. if they are going the same speed, but not if one is stationary. I tried changing the figure numbers, but Poser just puts them back.

Hello, everyone. This may not need be voiced, but to make sure we are all on the same page, the "Road Bike" is definitely an excellent item that we have brokered exclusively for Jim Burton. This was a mistake on our part, we have some new staff and they are not familiar with all the Brokered Artists we currently work with yet. This mis-communication has been corrected and Jim will, of course, receive all proper credit and royalties. Thanks again, Jim, for the fantastic model. On a lighter note, I personally am an absolutely avid cyclist. I happen to be more of a mountain bike enthusiast as to a "roadie" (Dual-Slalom being my preferred event) but, like everyone else, am on the road as much as off to train, etc. From the response this item has had, I can only hope that a mountain bike will soon be modeled as well. If you ask me, Cannondale's Jekyll would be a great choice, since that's what I ride!:)
GrayMare posted Mon, 19 March 2001 at 2:06 PM
Build a Jekyll (or any reasonably tricked out MB) and I'll buy it -- pre order if possible. Just talked a co-worker into spending her hard earned cash on one...I love being the local bike consultant. So where's the helmet and unzippable three-pocket jersey? GrayMare
zimmer posted Mon, 19 March 2001 at 2:14 PM
Yes, an outfit for the poser figures would be great, Jim. Arturo
Jim Burton posted Mon, 19 March 2001 at 4:57 PM
Actually, I do have a set consisting of a jersey (3 pocket, natch!), shorts, cap and nifty shoes with velcro straps just about done for Vickie and Supermodel Vickie, with one for Mike started. I was having lots of problem with the fit, when the figure gets down to the racing position they really bend all 'dem joints, so I put the bicycle out first.
