I think there was a thread a couple of days ago where someone was wanting to find copies of older versions of Poser (1, 2, 3). I'm pretty sure I still have my Poser 2 Floppy's but I didn't offer them up for sale at this time.

Before they made me they broke the mold!

I've got P2, P3, P4, & P5. I've even got the old Metacreations content CD for Poser. Lots of goodies like canes, spheres, & stairs.

I'm using P6.

But my real question is this: how come the merchants don't support P2 anymore? I'm outraged!

String 'em all up, that's what I say.........

I no longer buy products designed for Poser 4, because it eats up too much of my time optimizing them for use in Poser 6. If I see "for Poser 4+", I pass it on by like it's contageous, no matter how appealing I may find it. It just eats up too much of my time to optimize it properly. Well, I make all my stuff in Poser 6. But I try to make it reasonably Poser 4 compliant as well, because there ARE a lot of people out there that use Poser 4, Pro Pack and Artist. Oh and don't forget Daz Studio - I LOVE and ADORE the material room, and usually slip in as many nodes and stuff as I can get away with, then.. well the Poser 4 people must just live with the fact that while it'll work it won't look quite as spiffy... Just yesterday I had a problem with some times in Poser 6 - unless I cranked the sampling rate to something where my (reasonably new and powerful) computer just looked at me and belched... - then today I simply made a texture map. And whaddayaknow.. it looks much better because now the tiles are tils with proper mortar and stuff. OF COURSE it also means that the texture map takes up memory, probably more than a procedural texture, but now it's actually useable in all Poser versions as well as Daz Studio, something it wouldn'thave been, had I used a procedural shader. I did use a shader to give an included mirror proper reflection, that's one of the times where P4 users are SOL.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

"...but now it's actually useable in all Poser versions as well as Daz Studio..." And Max and C4D and RenderMan and POVRay... As long as EF sees fit to sell it then I reckon there might be some sense in supporting it, maybe just a buck or two here and there. Besides, if P4/A is their entre into the academic market, this fits right in with the incipient plans to make this a family friendly zone n'Cest pas? Merchants would be foolish not to support what is supposed to become a substantial market right here.

Hi Glad to see you are still here. Thinking about coming back-and getting Poser 6. I used Greenbriar studio plugins briefly back in P4 days. I saw they are/have updated them for P6. I also have Poser Propack- I admit to preferring the Greenbriar apps! Eric

I, for one, will put my hand up as still using p4. Not through choice..but it's simply a matter of pure, dirty economics. As much as I'd like to try p6..my finances are such that I can't afford a computer that will RUN it..this old clunker struggles with P4 renders at time :( For those of you who use P6 for more 'commercial' jobs, and who have the funds for the latest in equipment, more power to you. But don't look down on those who just tinker around, for pleasure. We may be a dying breed..like the dinosaurs..but remember , it was 'old fashioned', 'obsolete' P4 that got so many folks involved in 3D work, and helped create the community we have now
