Usually what you do is import a background made in other applications. Any image file can be used as a background, such as a photograph, a scan of a painting, or a picture done in Vue , Photoshop, etc. In the attatched image, the background was done in VistaPro thewn imported into Poser. BTW, you shouldn't use all caps, as it is harder to read and creates the impression thta you're yelling.

You can find free to use images at this site. The first item in their FAQ states that their images are free to use, even in commercial projects.

Before they made me they broke the mold!

Or if you get on a creative bent, try
Universe Image Creator - diard software, has a free space image creator, and a spendy one. Handy for skies, etc.
Terragen- a landscape creator, good skies, good water, but no plants (at least not the last time I saw..;) also free, at Planetside site
Geofrac(?)- there are several fractal programs out there for free..I think this is one. A really nice one is called (I think) Xeno dream, and can actually export models, but they want buckies for that..:|
Project Dogwaffle, and The Gimp (gimp.org, Dogwaffle I don't have memorized..;) Free paint, and free 'photoshop clone', good for effects, cropping pics, layering, etc..could turn out handy..;) Have fun

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

anahl nathrak uth vas betude doth yel dyenvey..;)

A nice thing about Terragen is that you can use it to create background pictures, but also you can export the landscape model in LWO format and import it into Poser. These landscape models can easily be textured using procedurals in Poser 5 and 6.

Terragen landscapes can also be exported as greyscale bmp's (using a free plugin that I think can be downloaded from Terragen's website) and used on Vue and bryce terrains.
