Hey everyone. i got a major problem. i have downloaded some city buildings from here, but when i render the images or the material images the glass on the objects turn black. i change the material to other type of glass/mirror, but it wont turn shiny/reflective or anything. just black. anyone know what could have gone wrong? please let me know if you know. =) thanks a lot

actually everything turns black, the moment its a biny bit of reflective.. this is maybe a eastier thing to find out of. i dont know. anyone does?

What did you download? Would be easier if we knew know what you're talking about.

its not just download. its everything that have a reflective surface. if i want a aliminium surface, and turn on reflectivity it just turn black. =/ i have no clue what it is

Can you provide us with an example maybe? Something to examine, a sphere maybe with a reflective surface. This would be most effective probably.

OK. this is my settings. i have not edited the material. just clicked "mirror" at a sphere, and then ok http://www.home.no/markusthaman/Vue/sphere.JPG now. this is the render. i have still done nothing.. JUST clicked the render button http://www.home.no/markusthaman/Vue/sphere2.JPG you see what i mean now? lol i dont have a clue what it is at least.. =/

Now this is weird. From the render I can see you use Infinite, could you tell us which version you're using? Built & patch? The only idea that comes to my mind is that in the render settings, "enable sub rays" is disabled, thus not computing reflections. Which quality did you render this sphere? Was it the default "preview" or was it "sketch"? If the latter, it's normal, sketch doesn't compute reflectivity or transparency. If it is something else, I'll let wabe help!

it were prewiev. but i have recently rendered a 1600x1200 with GI with the same results.. so its all over. i use the latest build from e-on i think checking build 275925. ill try the "enable sub rays" and ill come back and reply..

the sub rays are on.. so i dont have a single clue (no more then be4) whats going on. anyone knows? sigh

built 275925 is an old one, maybe you should try downloading latest patch 279784.

You should check in render options if 'Force use reflexion map' is checked. If so uncheck it or change the default reflexion map which is 1x1 black pixel. Hope that helps
