One for the sci-fi buffs and physics graduates... (I'm sort of both - love sci-fi, and did quantum mechanics as part of my electronic engineering degree...) The link takes you to a New Scientist article about a 1950's scientist (little known today, but the article says was something of a celebrity in his day). The scientist - Heim - postulated that magnetic energy and gravity were interchangeable, effectively bridging Einstein's theory of relativity and quantum mechanics... Further, that this effect could be used to power a spacecraft. Anyway - if you are interested in this stuff, read the article - it's amazing to think what might have been: if only...
