Well I FINALLY upgraded from Poser 4 to Poser 6, and I'm so overwhelmed! I consider myself a near expert with Poser 4, and now Poser 6 has so much more... it's ridiculous (in a good way)!

Anyway, I've been playing with the cloth sim and have been having troubles. First of all, how can I get the dynamic prop to fit the figure on the first frame, instead of draping over the figure after several frames? I have the 'Start draping from zero pose' thing checked, but the dress doesn't actually fit to the figure until about 5-10 frames into the calculation. I want to use Poser 6 for animations (as I did with P4) so this is pretty important to me.

Second, is there at all a way to convert conforming clothing to dynamic, or at least find a site containing lots of dynamic clothing? I want to fit some of the default props to the figures (such as baggy jeans), and then simulate a strong gust of wind, but the jeans are conforming so I can't do this.

And finally (for now), how can I get the wind to work properly? I set up a wind object directly to the side of the figure, then just set a (hopefully) really strong wind with:

Amplitude=1
Spread Angle=66
Range=2.58
Turbulence=1

When I go to simulate the cloth, it doesn't really ripple or flow with the wind like how I want it. Any ideas or suggestions, or am I just doing it completely wrong?

I want to understand the cloth sim before I delve into all the new hair features, so hopefully I can get this working soon. I really cannot wait to start putting this program to work... it simply puts Poser 4 to shame! Thanks in advance for the help.

PS- If you guys want to check out the animation project I just finished with Poser 4, you can find it at: http://noescape.rateofinjury.com. It's a feature length CG film based off of Konami's Silent Hill, and I used Poser 4 for most of it (as well as AfterFX for Post and Max for some scenes). The first two episodes are very rough since I was just getting into Poser 4 then, but the visual and animation quality increases quite a bit after the 2nd episode.

There a several ways to do what you want.. (OK, maybe only 2, but somebody else might have another suggestion)).. In each case in the following turn draping off. It adds "negative" frames that you can't get rid of. A PITA. Load figure and pose zero. Add clothing. Use 10 - 20 frames to "clothify" the clothing in the cloth roo. (It depends on the clot - some needs more than others). Do this in the ZERO position. Now the choices. Pick a (well draped) frame and either:- 1) Save the the cloth as a .obj (or equivalent) 2) spawn a morph target. Personally, I prefer option 1. Now you have clothing that fits a target in the zero position and is "draped". From this you can create your still or animation a lot easier:-)) Hope that helped... Cheers, Diolma
