I want to trim down my PPP Runtime files. Some my files are ancient and are just taking up space. My problem is finding ALL the related files to an item and delete them . Some of the files are in the diffierent folders under different names, (named by the merchant, not me). Read me's are long gone. Please help. :OP

Search the freestuff for P-UN, Poser Library Uninstaller by konan (aka Blacksmith 3D). I haven't tried it, but it sounds as if it should do the trick.Philywebrider posted Tue, 17 January 2006 at 4:07 AM
Thanks for the info, but I ran into a little problem. I went to your link, and I clicked on the program Free P-Un program and it took me to a site that didn't have the program listed. At least I didn't see it. It was selling some other products. Has anybody used this product?

But be carefull if an other item uses the same texture or obj. In such cases you can find the related files manually with P3dO Explorer.

It might take longer, but what I do is locate the original files on my CD's. Unzip/extract them to a folder on my desktop one by one and while looking through the folders, I go to my runtime and delete those particular files/folders. Like I said, it takes more time, but I'm assured of removing all of the foldes/files for that item. Also, I don't bother to install "uninstallers" because they take up HD space and I don't have excess to spare. So I use this same method for extractor files.

When i have deleted items i have used CR Pro to move them out of the runtime into a temp directory then deleted the temp directory. this takes all the related files.

I'm working on an application that would do this automatically... for an entire runtime... Have to build the help file and hunt a little bit on the littls bugs... but it works... I already removed files, split my runtimes and move all correspondant references to the correct runtime.

Oh, semidieu...I can hardly wait...I ran a folder check and I've got over 9 GB of Poser stuff on a 40 GB hard drive...I can't even find some of what I'm looking for anymore...I'd LOVE a program that would automate this and ask me if I wanted to keep the texture (those are recycleable, y'know...)
semidieu posted Tue, 17 January 2006 at 12:10 PM
I will try to finish it as soon as possible... I'm very busy... but i think i could add a "first" version at the end of this week with only basic help file. But, before giving too many hope... it's for Windows XP, with the framework 1.1 installed (if you do the Microsoft update often, it is already installed). In fact, it will do more than this... That's why it needs a help file: - batch convert P4 MAT files to P6 MAT files - manage the runtime preferences - organize/clean the runtimes and their references... - "material mixer": use other textures on an existing MAT file or Figure file by simple drag and drop - Create categories for any figure. - For any file (cr2, pz3, ..) you can save all the references to a folder for exporting. It works with compressed or uncompressed files, but doesne't support the external binaries.

Oh, yes...XP Pro...and I can hardly wait!

Wow that would be awesome, I tried P-un but seems you need exe files or something to use, couldn't make it work anyway lol. I hate the hunt and peck solution....and what is Cr pro?
svdl posted Wed, 18 January 2006 at 1:38 AM
Correct Reference Pro by hogsoft. A utility that'll fix up bad references in your Poser files. The simple version, Correct Reference, is available in freestuff. It'll correct wrong texture/bump/transmap entries in a cr2/pz2/pp2 file. The pro version does more - scans multiple runtimes, corrects INJ/REM poses, corrects .OBJ references, handles compressed files, handles P6 .PMD files, and more.

Well, I think you got another customer for the ShaderWorks right here, semideu... any idea on a projected release date yet? jonthecelt
semidieu posted Wed, 18 January 2006 at 1:39 PM
Thanks all for the comments. For the release date... well, the application is working but is not yet 100% user friendly. I first made this app just for me, so i knew what to do and what not to do. So, i have to make some little changes. There's one or to things that must been corrected in the graphic interface and i have an idea to expand the use of the "Material Mixer" room. But all this shouldn't take too long. A first release (let call it Beta version), with an uncompleted help file should come out during the next week.

OK. Just to let you know that it's "finished". I updated my website and have created a whole section for the application. I'm at work and don't have the time right now to make a "showcase" for it. If those who read this thread can test the website and the application before i officialy make it available, it would be nice. Just a little thing. This application was first made for me... So, i know how to use it and know what i'm not allowed to do. So take care how you use it !semidieu posted Tue, 24 January 2006 at 9:26 AM
Oh... and any comments are welcome... Either here, by Instant Messaging or Email. Oh... and read the first page of the website... Do not delete original files until you'are sure everything is OK.

Seems to be working great for me so far, semidieu... It's helped me to reorganise my runtimes compeltely (something I've been wanting to do since P5!). There are a couple of places where perhaps the translation can be tightened up. If you want me to give it a crack, then I'd be happy to oblige. jonthecelt
semidieu posted Thu, 26 January 2006 at 4:29 AM
Sure... I'm usually speaking french... And my "official" translater is very busy (work and girlfriend). So, every help would be great and welcome.
jonthecelt posted Thu, 26 January 2006 at 5:10 AM
Ok, I'll take a look through all the menus and help files, and see what I can do. Don't get me wrong, it looks good, and it's understandable... but it's not 'quite' right, if you know what I mean? Anyways, I'll get on it, and try to have something concrete to offer back over the weekend. jonthecelt
