Am I missing a setting or something? it still displays the thumbnail if the RSR is present, but it won't generate or display PNGs. Anyone, please?

Check your options and make sure you haven't limited the number of thumbnails to preview. I'm rendering right now so I can't look, but I think there is an 'unlimited' option. Check that one.

I use external Runtimes and have no problem so I am wondering what Runtime and Libraries you are using? I created the external Runtimes by copying the empty folders in Poser6/Downloads. :)

I actually just created a folder called 'runtime' on a usb HDD (installed the files there), and in Poser added a runtime and navigated to the new runtime. I can use the files and view the thumbnails, but only if they are in RSR format, not in PNG.

I don't know if this will solve the problem or not, but you could try copying and pasting poser.exe into the external folder. I have mine named as i.e. !Vicki and then in that Runtime and its sub folders. I placed the poser.exe under !Vicki. Worth a try! :)

But what should be the benefit of this poser.exe in the runtime????

I have at the moment 15 different runtimes and the number will grow for sure. As I have my installation on an external HD to have my Poser with me where I am, I have no probs with png's.

BTW, which version of Poser do you use? P4 can't handle png's.

A poser.exe file is a file that poser needs in order to treat that runtime like one of it's own and be able to search for it. No need to "copy" the poser.exe file though... Just make a new text file and change the name to "poser.exe", which tricks poser into thinking that the runtime you made is a real runtime.

@ Acadia Poser definitely doesn't need this "poser.exe" in it's runtimes. Even if you look into your poser installation, the poser.exe is in the main folder. In my whole Poser 6 installation there is only one poser.exe and that's the one the poser intaller created.

Some people auto install directly to their runtimes, and if you don't have a poser.exe file inside each of your external runtimes, poser wont' be able to find it. I learned how to work with multiple runtimes at that link. So Cliff probably explains the reason behind the poser.exe file better than I do.

@ Acadia I read the thread and the only reason for this dummy "poser.exe" is to make other programmes, e. g. DAZ installer, believe that the poser installation is in this folder. For Poser itself there is for sure no reason for this file. He stated this himself in the thread: 08 Oct 2004 19:32 BTW, you can keep the files, they don't disturb Poser but for Poser they are useless.
