If you liked the first Underworld even a little, GO SEE THIS MOVIE!
Anyway...the other reason to mention this movie is because the other program I am studying is ZBrush, and it was used a lot in "Underworld:Evolution", here's some links to some 3D stuff related to the movie;
Underworld:Evolution article at vfxworld.com
Enjoy.

Btw, in the above picture the actor is real (in makeup), and his wings were created with ZBrush. Article mentioned that animation was done with Maya and rendering with mental ray. Photo is copyright Sony Pictures. AS

I saw Underworld after it was released on cable, I instantly became a fan to the cult movie. Went out and bought the DVD. Then a few a months ago they came out with the uncut edition, which I'm definitely going get. Been counting the days for the sequels release for months now.

Eeeee gadz Bryster, what did you mean by that? LMAO! If you mean will she get grossed out, maybe, we're a different era. What may not gross you out might gross your mom tho. If you read some of the reviews, apparently there are some gruesome scenes in it. Not to mention some nudies.

LOL...OK, I got it now! Phew, because there is romance in it, for a moment there I thought you were going Oedipus on us. ;)
AgentSmith posted Tue, 24 January 2006 at 3:00 PM
Yeah, btw...Underworld:Evolution takes us back to the OLD days of rated-R movies...LOTS of blood, gore and violence thrown into the action, along with some sex/sexy scenes and a little nudity thrown about here and there. The age limit definetly went UP in the sequel. AS

I think I just became uncool, since I hadn't heard of "Underworld" never mind this one. :-( I'm blaming the flu... (yes, I have had it for months... or years maybe - certainly would explain a lot!)

The first Underworld was not a complete blockbuster, as it made around $100 million in worldwide boxoffice, but then doubled that when it went to video. But, the budget for the first movie was only $22 million, so a very nice profit was made. I cannot find anywhere as of yet the $$ budget for the sequel...yet, from reading between the lines, I think it was still fairly low compared to how high some film budgets are on this VFX level. AS

Not a chicken, no, but there have been moments during this bout of the dreaded lurgy that the thought of NOT having to spend one more moment in that state made even a chicken's fate sound pretty attractive. But good news - there is now a light at the end of the tunnel... I think it's a train.

Thanks very much for the links AS! Ortega is an inspiration certainly to those of us that want to do character modelling and animation professionally. =) According to IMDB, Underworld: Evolution has made 26.9mil so far opening weekend. Too bad IMDB doesn't tell you how much was spend to make the movie (most of Uwe Boll's movies would be interesting in this regard).
