Tried it, doesn't work for me. All I get is a white screen. Sometimes when I move the window I get a flash of the galaxy, but then it turns all white again.

Well the examples look cool, but I cant even get it to run; it just flashes up and then disappears?? Rochr, did you use the "New" version or the "Old" version? Michael:)

Not sure if you're being facetious here or not. So, to clarify, "It didn't do zip". I know its a double negative which implies that it did do something, but it didn't. All I get is a blank white window.

Works ok for me. But couldn't tell you why. I used the new version and run using the batch file rather than the exe.
Sans2012 posted Fri, 03 February 2006 at 9:26 AM
I was just joking bandolin:) I tried both the exe. and batch file with the same results:( Michael

I get the blank white screen also. At one point, my system crashed and froze. Sounds like a great little progie to have. :(

Works nicely, though a bit slow (you need a rather fast machine i guess).
Thanks for the head up. Edit: There are lots more of goodies on that site ^____^

Sorry to hear it doesnt work for some. :( Sans, i downloaded the new version. Worked well here, but it sounds like its one of those apps that work on one machine, but not the other, identical one. :)

Doesn't work for me either, so it's not just that you need a fast machine (I have 2.4Ghz and 1GB of RAM--though it could be my video card, I guess, that's not so hot: ATI Radeon 64MB).
bandolin posted Fri, 03 February 2006 at 11:24 AM
Its definitely not the machine: 3.2 Ghz P4 2 Gb Ram ATI X700 256Mb

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed; it looks like a handy piece of software; it would go nice next to UIC. I even tried compatibility modes with no luck. I'm going to have another go; I cant just sit back and not even get the white screen:) Michael

RobertJ posted Fri, 03 February 2006 at 11:43 AM
Not the machine i guess then, i have a 1.8 Ghz Athlon with a 1 gig of memory and a Gforce III with 64 mb. It works, not fast but it still works at around 10 to 11 frames per second. Running XP home (no SP2), no such things as compatibility modes and i did not copy that dll-file into the windows/system32 directory after i tried the program, and only after that you read the read_me wich reccomended to copy the SDL.dll (simple directmedia layer library) into your windows folder (windows/system32) :) BTW: Voxel World is way cool

no such things as compatibility modes: OK Robert! Try right clicking on some icons;) I tried it with and without the SDL.dll file; still without any luck. Michael

Aha... (got there by link). It doesn't work on ATI cards, sorry :( Nothing to do with general system specs, just videocard and drivers. Try installing latest driver for your videocard, might help. It uses opengl for rendering, and nvidia is sorta better at opengl support. I only have GeForce FX 5200 and don't really know why it doesn't run on ATI videocards.
Maybe i'll try changing something. Strangely, with certain OpenGL drivers, sometimes little changes make it work or break it.
BTW you might find my mojoworld/volumetrics pages interesting.
Erlik posted Sun, 05 February 2006 at 12:22 PM
I've got GeForce 2 Ti, with drivers 71.89. Cannot use the latest ones, as they don't work with my card. But I have a GeForce Ti 4400 that's waiting to be installed. I'll see then cause Ti 4400 can use the latest drivers. But it's certainly weird. The current card with the current drivers worked with Mojoworld 3, Maya 7, Cinema 9.5, Rhino 4, DAZ Studio 1.2 with hardware OpenGL renderer, Bryce 5.5 with OpenGL view... Why not with Galaxy, I wonder.

Dmytry posted Sun, 05 February 2006 at 2:28 PM
mostly because i don't have different hardware to test it on & there seems to be something that some drivers don't support. I can try using basic openGL calls only (with drop in performance) so it will work on more cards.

As I said, weird. It works now. It should have done it from the beginning. I mean, why not? All the latest apps and their OpenGL stuff work. Pity you cannot export the image.
