I've been browsing some galleries of other artists, and I can't help but notice the hair on some of the figures. It's very hi res, and there are individual strands. What I can't figure out, is how it is done. I prefer to use the conforming hair poser comes with (long and posable) yet when rendered, it still looks like a solid object, no matter what texture I apply to it. I have seen something referred to called Smart Hair...is this the answer? Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Please help bring my characters to life. Dragontales

Some use the "superior" maps and models Kozaburro (of the Digital Babes and Poser Factory websites) has made available, some model their own, others "paint" the hair on in post render, and others either composite photographs or use the "Magic Box" technique to map photographic hair onto a square prop. There are a lot of tips and options available - I'd suggest searching the Forum Archives here for "Hair" to start. You can also hunt down some of the improved hair textures online, and, if using Poser 4, tweak the transparency and Bump settings to get better results as well.

And, of course, another thing to do would be to e-mail or Private Message the artists of the works you admire and ask them directly for pointers - MOST of the people here are more than happy to answer questions and provide assistance!

I'm interested in these "superior" maps. I assumed you meant digitalbabes.com and PoserFactory.com, but couldn't find them on their. Are these the correct site addresses? As for the Forum, there didn't seem to be much on it.

The Forum? No, I mean use the Search and Archive commands here. Click on "Archive" and then "Search" for "Hair" I'm not sure of the addresses of the Digital Babes and Poser Factory sites; I think they're on the webring or you can search the recent archives for the Alice Hair postings - the first two included links to these sites.

Ok, I found digital babes. Downloaded some stuff too, and it looks very promising. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Dragontales

heyas; once upon a time, allereirauh took those conforming curls, remapped them, and made a transmap for them that made them look like real strands. this was sorta the dawn of the transmapped hair age. i've heard that the transcurls are still available somewhere, but i don't have the url. :/

Cool, I'd be really interested in that transmap.
