I am using the V3 to V2 character and used the V3MapsHi on her, since I am under the impression she is V3's head on V2's body?? please correct me if I'm wrong...anyway, this is the way the face came out, so obviously the V3 texture map didn't work....not sure if I've just got everything bass ackwards...thanks for any direction! :D Karen edit to add that in the image above I even tried the V2 medium texture map on her and it still didn't work... ;0

The V3 to V2 figure takes V1/V2 textures... Hope you have Universal Texture Convertor handy... ;)

is UTC a free utility? I don't think I have it, but I will look for it...even if V3 to V2 takes V1/2 textures, I still have to "tweak" them?? thanks for your help! :D Karen edit to say that I see it's not a free utility ;/ I will try to tweak by hand if I can, or simply go with V2...it's not a big deal to use her instead of V3 to V2, this scene is not going to be requiring closeup detail or anything...thanks! :D

Not free, but not expensive either, and very useful - the basic version includes V2 -> V3 conversions, and back the other way, so you don't need the plugins for this. - Edit - Ah, we cross-posted...

I guess I probably need a template to use in PS to do the tweaking...can anyone point me in the right direction if there's one available? thankyou once again! Karen

yes, it's definitely not very expensive...however, at the moment it is for me, though that will change soon and I will invest in it...thanks EB! :D

No problem... There's a template set on the Vicki 2 product page, assuming you don't want to make your own.

Or, better, SnowSultan's seam guides are in freestuff here.

hi karen! "yes, it's definitely not very expensive..." was exactly what i thought before i bought utc and saw, that the results are also "not very expensive"... lets put it this way: UTC was a big help on learning more about photoshop!

EB...thankyou, I'll download the seam guides...thanks! f :D amacord...I truly appreciate your taking the time to share your experience...I will go ahead and tweak the texture in PS, as I mentioned above, with Snow Sultan's seam guides...thanks for your help! :) Karen

I have purchased UTC and converted tons of textures V3 to V2 and vice versa and haven't had a single problem :) It seems to depend rather on a texture itself than on a program. Here is a V3 texture converted to V2 (Sylfie by Thorneworks and Sarsa at DAZ) and as you see, it fits perfectly :) kitty5

You're not joking about that either. From when I last saw the price, it was $29.95 at Daz (I hope I'm wrong).

Thanks English Bob for that info. I'm getting it pronto.

I use UTC to convert V3 to V2 for use on Judy and EJ. (we love stealing things from Victoria!). Works VERY WELL. ::::: Opera :::::

jlovesart2 - UTC is $9.95 atm at DAZ, there was a price change about couple of months ago :) If you buy it, don't forget to visit DarkWhisper's homepage for the patch :) kitty5

V3 to V2 is MAPPED like V2. The only problem is that DAZ did not also RE-GROUP her to match V2. Thats why V2 MATs wont work for her, unless you regroup her by hand. With the V3 grouping, you have to texture her group by group in the material room. stahlratte

operaguy posted Sun, 05 February 2006 at 9:57 PM

the reason I did'nt know that myself is I never use those MAT thingies...I just head into the material room. :: og ::
