well, the obvious one is for use in dynamic hair - setting various 'collidable' objects, then checking 'do collisions' in the Hair room... but now I think on it, your tutorial doesn't seem to be based on that side of things this time, so here's hoping there's something new for me to learn!! :) jonthecelt

Thunder theft is no longer a federal offense in 32 states. However, just because the Feds don't worry about it doesn't mean local city governments take it lightly. Also if you read the fine print of the Thundriot Act, the Feds can tap your phone to keep track of it. They just charge you with Income Tex evasion rather than "theft" if you derive any kind of income by using the stolen thunder. Today's Poll: Would people rather I post that kind of inane rambling or simply post the word bookmark? HI DOC!!!!!!

I always thought that polishes were made by Kiwis. Not tough, just very messy (and don't get the wrong colour spread onto your best shoes - it takes YEARS to get the leather back to the right colour):-)) Or is Kiwi Polish made to keep those little brown birds from New Zealand looking bright and shiny? Or did the little brown birds invent it? (I could go on, but I've probably overstayed my welcome. If I say much more, the good Doc might be squeezed by the Python..)

Doc's gotta website! AND a bigger CD-ROM! If I wait a bit longer, maybe it will be big enough to go in my CD drive, maybe it will even be round. :P "Who says that Poser can only handle 3 and 4 sided polygons?" Poser 3 used to crash if you gave it a pentagon, so a few years ago, I would have said that. I still try to avoid them when I'm modelling. Call it force of habit; call it Eric, I don't care. ;)

A clarification, if I may, Doc? Are crease angles which are exactly equal to the value in the box smoothed, or not smoothed? On page 9, you're implying both to be true... It must be one or the other... ;)
geep posted Fri, 17 February 2006 at 6:41 AM
Hi EnglishBob,
Thank for asking that question ... it's a good one and it is something that others may not have noticed.
Here's how it works.
Poser provides for 2 decimal places for an angle, i.e. 1/100 of a degree.
I did not take it down to 1/100 ... I only took it to 1/10 of a degree, e.g., 37.4x and 37.3x - (x is the 2nd decimal place).
On Page 9 (in the lower left corner) ...
I was illustrating that:
an angle between 2 polygons of 37.4 or greater would get smoothed ... e.g., 38, 39, 40, 41 degrees, etc.
= AND =
an angle between 2 polygons of 37.3 or less would NOTget smoothed, e.g., 36, 35, 34, 33 degrees, etc.
This happens to apply to the entire object, i.e., bucky ball, because all of it's angles are equal.
However ... if we look at an object that has different angles ...
>>>>>>>>>> ... to be continued ...

I finally got my DVD copy of "Godzilla vs. Tetrahedron." It was one of Godzilla's better movies. Godzilla, Go Go Yubari (who later earned fame as a psycho-killer-schoolgirl in "Kill Bill") and Mao Tse Tung were in this unrequited love triangle and, well, you'll have to rent it and see how it turned out. Of course Mao Tse Tung hasn't done any movies lately (hint, hint).
