Has anyone ever had any success photographing lava lamps? I have one so I figured I'd give it a go. This was just a quick attempt, but it tells me that I need to put some more effort into it if I'm gonna get a decent image. Anyone else? C'mon, I know a bunch of you guys have them! ;^]

Lava lamp ! Nope sorry lost mine in the 60's :( Neat looking jar of pickled eggs you got there :)

And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

I lost mine when I got rid of the "fondue pot". Sorry!

Never had one. Used to just stand outside the store and stare at them in the window. Hey mannnnn... You can do some pretty cool things with the photos of them though. Have seen a few in this site.

One of my first uploads here was back in Feb.03' was a picture that included a lava lamp. I used a 2.1 MP point-&-shoot HP Photosmart..my first digital :-)

I bought one from Wally-Mart a few months back with the same intention. The glass inside has many wax blobs stuck to it, so was not really happy with result. Any way to clean the insides of these, or do you just get used to it after staring for awhile?

shot this for Christmas 2003 and was in my old gallery...my trick was to watch it for a very long time and place a black card behind the glass to minimize reflections, then postwork the crap out of it. The background came with Paint Shop Pro in the texture files...happy belated Christmas! (lol)
