See: http://www.eovia3d.net/showthread.php?t=6234 Tested on V3 and Aiko3 so far. Losing facial and body morphing, as well as magnets, when importing with poser native import. Imports done in late January (5.0.2?) did not have the morph dial problem, but did have the magnet problem. Cross posting here because I figure more people here are likely to also be Poser users and can test it as well.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I finally got C5 Pro yesterday, but I think I'll wait on loading 5.0.4 until we (you) learn more about this from Eovia.

Compared with the goodies in the 5.0.4 improving the Poser working relationships, etc, Arcadys problem is possibly very narrowly directed. The updates suggest that separate problems may exist with individual Poser items. And I think some problems may only be overcome via the Transposer approach anyway. These problems allways must be directed to Eovia as Arcady has done. If fixable they do so very promptly.

Yes, as far as I know magnets and dials have also been a problem on D|S. I don't know if magnets were supposed to be supported or if that is a bug.

No need to think outside the box....

magnets are not supported and I don't think injection morphs.

Thanks, Ringo...that clears that up. I thought I saw that somewhere.

"Arcadys problem is possibly very narrowly directed."

Not at all.

The lack of morphs importing is more major than even the parenting problem of the last release.

Scan through the poser galleries and see if you can even find an image that does not use morph dials...

It will be hard, unless you go back to the first days of any given model release, such as when vicky 1 first came out and there simply weren't any morphs out for her yet.

Nearly ALL Poser content uses morphes, and a vast porportion today also uses magnets.

But while there -might- be ways get around magnets (there is NO EXCUSE for it not being part of the default support when every other Poser importing application on the market supports it given that it has been a part of Poser since at least version 3 if not version 1), MORPHS are critical.

Poser without Morphs is meaningless.
That includes not jus injection, but also regular morphs. See the 'Don' example I posted at eovia. 5.0.3 supported both forms of Morphs, there is ZERO EXCUSE for the removal of both forms.

While injection morphs may have been a bug in Poser 4 and before, they are an official part of Poser 6:

http://www.e-frontier.com/article/view/1425/1/598/ The above article discusses two ways to save your injection morphs. One a new method that made people think inj morphs had been turned off (keeping the inj in an external file), the other a setting newly added to Poser 6 that preserves the old 'bug' as a modern 'feature' (placing the inj into the pz3).

I'm confused....I use the pose dials in poser for posing & morphing & I inject poses. And they come into Vue fine. See my last pic(fanstasy). All those items were posed using morph dials & INJ & imported just fine using import of PZ3.... In addition, INJ poses are PZ2 & it says on Eovia's homepage that PZ2 is supported. Or have I missed something?

arcady posted Sun, 12 February 2006 at 4:43 PM

Vue... Yeah. I haven't had problems importing Poser into Vue since early version 4.

Vue never had morph-import problems. Back in the day it had major transparency import problems.

This is the Carrara forum though. :) Carrara 5.0.2 imported the morphs (dials and INJ) just fine. Somewhere between there and now with 5.0.4 they both dropped out.

I consider this an innocent bug. Bugs happen. I'm a little frustrated with those trying to claim it is not supported or not important, but I know it is an official part of Poser, it used to work, and those at eovia who I've had contact with expressed an interest in looking into it.

It's a bug, that kind of stuff just happens. Once it happens, it gets looked into and in time fixed.

Magnets is a seperate issue. If that was never supported then so be it. We'll just slide that issue out of this topic if possible.

The bug has been reported to Eovia. At first impression it seems someone may have accidently disconnected the morphs tick relationship for the Native. Continuing the discussion when it is in good hands seems a bit pointless.

I meant Carrara!!!!!! No idea why I said Vue....runs to hide!!!!! All my imports hold up fine, morphs & all :) The pic I created in Carrara - the fantasy one used all morphs/dials etc & imported fine...as you can see :)

Well, i get all morphs imported but for any but the body morphs, the values are set to 0 instead to the value from the cr2.

arcady posted Mon, 13 February 2006 at 2:38 AM

My work flow here is to set the dials on a poser figure in Poser, and then save that as a pzz file. I thin import the pzz, and the figure's dials come in at zero. Happens both with dials that were in the figure's cr2 to begin with, and with those I injected from within Poser. I am doing zero work with these figures in Carrara - just importing and then looking to see what came in. Dizzi - it seems as if you got the same results I am getting. dlk30341 - Carrara regular 5.0.4 with -NO- transposer? If you're getting good results, tell me if you still get them with Don and his face dials. And if you get good results with a model that is free and <=p5, let me know what model what is and what dials - so I can see if I get good or fail on them.
