Is it no longer possible to purchase an item as a gift as well as purchase the same item for ourselves in one transaction?

I was trying to buy an item for myself and a friend that we both like, and it won't let me add the item as a gift to my cart since it's already in my cart for myself. Uhhh.. did that make sense? LOL!
