Ok, I'm entering this not to win (coz the standard even for beginners is above me - I'll be the first to admit it!) but to be nostalgic. My picture is of Blyth, Northumberland, UK. It used to be a mining town until the pit closed down (that's the staithes centre/left) and had a power station just over the river, now also closed down. If I'm not mistaken the little ferry tan ran from ths jetty isn't there now either. I've rendered this style because it's nostalgic, and before long these images are going to be all that's left of two important industries in the town. Thanks. Mike.

you've done a fine fine job. Congratulations on your entry and for taking me all around England in your photography!

I think its nice to see other places with photos like this, these are places I would never see otherwise and I find them very interesting.

In the bit above it should read "the little ferry THAT ran..." - sorry, my fingers had had too much too drink when I wrote it, and it was about 01:00 here. Thanks for that, Syyd - I've hardly been out of the North East so far, wait until summer gets here & I start day-tripping!

this is expectional. your take makes the picture great. the diagonal etching gives it a bizzard affect which i like.

Thanks for your comments everyone! Eh, by'eck, I've got a warm feeling running through me! OK, as requested here's the original - taken Monday 19th March with my usual Fuji MX1200 on hi res, reduced to 50% here to save download time & space.

i like the original, but i like your take on the original even more for the mood affect and feeling it carries
